What a little gem the Wheatsheef is. From the moment I walked in to when I left the staff were always polite and friendly. Evening meals were really nice and tasty and the bar was well stocked - what more could I ask for. The bedroom was clean and tidy and the bed very comfy. I loved the notice in the bedroom about the church bells, I didn't even notice them unless I tried!

We were staying at the Quiet Site and randomly wanted somewhere to eat on Saturday night- 11th October. Found the Horse and Farrier on line and the menu looked impressive. It certainly lived up to expectations. The pork belly and pineapple pudding were exceptional. Will recommend this eatery to my friends and family who are often visiting the north Lakes. Brilliant chef and lovely service. Thank you

Great food, quick, friendly service and fantastic value

Lovely restaurant with good atmosphere and food with attentive staff who are very visible and on hand . Starters of tempura veg and scallops very good . Husband had lamb which was excellent . I had sea bass which I felt was overcooked for my liking. For me it all very rushed and maybe something to do with two sittings each evening. We had only just started to enjoy our drinks when the starters arrived . These plates were cleared as soon as finished and mains served — me personally I like a gap between courses to digest my food. Immediatley offered dessert when this was finished . Managed to get a breather at this point as indicated needed a rest. Apart from this it was a pleasant experience and if returning would indicate my preference for a more relaxed service

The best place to eat in Keswick by far. All main meals were delicious, as were the desserts. The staff were fab & all in all, a great relaxed evening out with top rate food.

We love this little gem of a restaurant. From the minute you walk in you feel welcome. The place has a warm and comforting feel to it. Cosy lighting. It has a great feel to the place. Staff are so friendly and attentive. The place is spotless and the staff are constantly keeping it like this. I struggle to choose what to have as I could try everything on the menu. There’s a great choice to every course, which is why I try something different every time I go. The food is so traditional, extremely tasty, I love the different sauces and pasta, so much choice. I had broccoli in my pasta which was fresh, bright green and still firm, which to me is perfect, not soggy! My panna cotta was perfection, lovely and wobbly and tasted amazing with the caramel flavour. I loved the Merlot too. It was very easy to drink, smooth and fruity, and a really decent price. I love this restaurant, always a treat. A must try if you haven’t been.

Have been to the Pheasant many times over the last 10 years or so. Always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The perfect finish to a good day on the hills. A traditional cosy friendly pub that lives up to it's reputation.

Traditional pub with great food and great service. Will definitely be back next time we are in Keswick.
