Horse and Farrier – PenrithHaving enjoyed dinner here one evening whilst staying in Grasmere, we booked for the following night. The food is excellent, as is the warm atmosphere and efficient service. Perfectly cooked rice too!! We would thoroughly recommend eating at Lewis' Bistro.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereMy partner and I eat here regularly. The menu changes frequently, fabulous delicious food with consistent quality . Service is welcoming, hospitable and good. The H&F is our preferred venue for eating out .

Sage and Vine – CarlisleFantastic food & great service. All deliciously fresh produce, would highly recommend Adriano's to anyone who loves Italian cuisine. Will definitely be back.
Adriano’s Italian Restaurant – CarlisleExcellent experience, food of a high quality, very well presented and generous sized portions. The salmon steak and pork belly bites were particularly worth commenting on, they were amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t have room to experience the desserts. A lovely ambiance and we look forward to visiting on our return to Grasmere. Tip. We managed to book using the online facility, worth doing as it was very popular.
Lewis’s Bistro – Grasmere5 star!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleCosy traditional pub with log fire. Friendly staff. Good food. Somewhat pricey. (Lunch main ~£20 beer £5.25)
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely quaint pub. Service was excellent. The meat pie was better than Gordon Ramsey s pub
Pheasant Inn – KeswickGreat service, good food, excellent VFM and great walks from the doorstep. Probably the best Sunday lunch we have had in the South Lakes/ North Lanc area.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeHad a excellent meal and the service provided was great couldn’t complain about anything certainly will be calling in again
Pheasant Inn – KeswickThe Sunday roast was excellent - the baked marmalade ham was particularly good - as was the service from the very friendly and welcoming staff. Prices are very reasonable for such food quality food. A great find and a quick diversion when travelling back from the Lakes means we'll definitely be calling again.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFood was great! It’s a little understaffed, just two folks covering the bar and all tables. Atmosphere could be improved - no music, plus we were in a very dark corner with a wobbly table and weird chairs.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithThe 3 of us had Sunday lunch at the Queens Head, and we all enjoyed our meals The crackling with the pork was great and could have done with another piece!!!.The beef was lovely and tender, and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. We all had deserts, the Sticky toffee pudding was Sticky, and I was told delicious, the fruit Crumble was lovely and the ice cream was cold!!! The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We would recommend going to the Queens, and we will be returning. Certainly value for money.
