Goody Blake’s – GrasmereLove this place .always call when in the lakes good food and service
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithDelightful lunch here on our Settle-Carlisle rail trip. Great risotto, pizza, wine and coffee. Wouldn’t hesitate to return.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleFantastic pub, the food was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. Unfortunately there wasn’t much choice for our dairy free child who is a very “cautious” eater. The safe option for him is usually steak but it was no longer on the menu.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithA fabulous find. Set in a picturesque village, the pub is a fantastic draw all on its own. I last ate here 2019 and I’m so impressed with the latest menu and staff now in 2025. This time the venison and plumb sauces and vegetables were superb! Definitely one to swing by whenever we can.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithLovely old pub, friendly service and food was beautiful.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickHidden gem! A must try when you’re in grasmere. Sue is absolutely lovely and warm and Clark an excellent chef. I ate there numerous times and tried various items from the menu - none of which disappointed!
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereWow ate for Sunday lunch best food in the whole week for our holiday sticky toffee pudding was lovely Service great waitress pleasant and chatty would definitely go out of my way to eat again
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe had a meal here and the food was terrific, although we had booked at 6pm there was no rush to order which was great. We enjoyed a few drinks first and the prices were great. The atmosphere was great too with many locals enjoying the pub. The measures too were the 35ml size and not the miserable 25ml served in many English pubs. The owner Julie was very friendly and accommodating and her husband Alistair could not have been more helpful. We would definitely recommend the Greyhound to anyone. Thanks Julie
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleAttend here on Saturday evening. Food was lovely and service was efficient. It was busy but staff took time to chat and check everything was to standard. It was nice that we weren’t rush and given time between courses with each plate of food being delicious.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad a Sunday lunch, couldn’t fault it one bit, staff also very friendly
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFabulous Sunday lunch as always....shhhh don't tell everyone x
Horse and Farrier – PenrithThe roast dinner was lovely. Needed some background music to create atmosphere.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsLovely Sunday roast option, especially for veggies. The only downside was the food was not particularly hot when we got it and we did have a relatively long wait for drinks. Everything was very tasty but service was slow - we were not in a rush but it would have been nice if all the desserts had come out together. Three of us had finished ours before the fourth arrived.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeGood food, good service, pleasant staff not bad prices
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleOutstanding food! Impressive attention to detail in flavour and presentation. Service great, good choice of wines and beer, reasonably priced for what you get. This is no ordinary ‘pub grub’!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe had a lovely lunch, the food was great, nice beers & cider on tap, friendly staff!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithI really want to support a community pub but this was chaotic. We arrived at the correct booked time to be told "we don't take bookings." We were extremely lucky that a table for 5 was available, ten minutes later and we would have been out. The pizzas were good but service a bit slow. We ordered dessert but none arrived. We wanted coffee but were told, "coffee finishes at 6pm!" After waiting some time without dessert we went to pay and were told the chef had walked out, although it was not clear when. The whole management of the pub and food was disorganised although it was clear that the staff were working their socks off. They need some system and back up to make this work.
