Booked in on Tuesday evening for one of the fantastic 3 courses of £10 deals that have been offered since the first lockdown. I genuinely can't believe that it is economically viable to serve such beautifully presented, delicious food, for such a competitive price. Warm welcoming, and dog friendly. Excellent attentive service with a smile. We'll be back soon!

The restaurant was busy as it's graduation week in Durham. I hope that's the reason why our experience was pretty awful. Drinks took a long time to arrive. Food took a very long time. The meat and cheese platter with olives and onion marmalade had no olives and one slice of onion marmalade. The cod croquettes was 1 single bought in fishcake. The bbq iberico pork was a pork loin chop, cold and had not been near much hear never mind a bbq. The slow cooked beef in red wine tasted like vinegar. The bean casserole was excellent and we did our best to dunk everything in that to make it edible. We were starving but didn't finish. Portions were tiny for the price. The main waiter/manager had been doing everything all night as there didn't seem to be much support for him. He was apologetic and removed an item of food from the bill. A table near us walked out as they weren't being attended to. We went to get a pizza

We stayed at The Morritt for two nights and both nights chose to eat in the Gilroy's Restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal. Good choice, good value for money and efficient and very friendly service. Lovely room with plenty of room, Nice décor and very comfortable. The cheerful waiting staff really were a bonus - nothing too much trouble. Would eat here more often if we lived nearer!

Better food than expected although the restaurant is a bit soulless. There was a sixth form leavers party next door and they clearly started drinking early which I suppose made for a fun spectacle. Overall this is a budget hotel pretending to be more than it is. The food and the bar area are it's best points.

Great value both at breakfast and dinner - good choice of food ad staff were excellent especially Michelle. Room 7 was really nice and our friends were in room 8 which was also a good size but said that they would have liked a wardrobe in bedrom

We had never been here before, it was our niece Emma , who recommended it, The food is really good,and a really great atmosphere , we have already booked again!

Great restaurants but have marked the service down after our 2nd evening there. The staff are very friendly and good but we had a wait of 40 minutes for our main course to be served after finishing our starter. When the food we served by the Manager, it was a very off the cuff sorry for your wait. We appreciate it was a busy hotel but he knew we were waiting a long time and a mention of this earlier would have been a nice professional touch, or the offer of a courtesy drink or something. It was a shame but when you are trying to promote such a quality dinner experience the excuse of sorry we are busy should not happen in an instance like this. Ouf previous review was excellent.

The place is beautiful and quirky. The service was brilliant and the food was out of this world. 100% recommend to anyone and I will definitely be back.

Booked a table for last night and was very disappointed to learn upon arrival that the there was no pizzas etc on the menu and the menu was extremely limited. We left and ate elsewhere!

Both dinner and breakfast were excellent with unique recipes developed by the chef for dinner. Unbelievably good value for money

Great staff, excellent service and a tasty meal

I booked afternoon tea for my daughter’s 18th birthday - the food itself was absolutely delicious but I have to say the service was atrocious! First off, the bar staff didn’t seem to have a record of our booking. Then when we ordered tea /coffee there didn’t appear to be a milk jug available so we received a tiny espresso cup full of milk. When it came to paying I must have been asked 3 times what I wanted to pay for! Even though the afternoon tea was tasty, I wouldn’t go back.

We booked a meal for Father’s Day at Antler bar and grill. At first the staff could not find our booking and sent us upstairs to the carvery, where we were informed that we were actually booked into the bar. We asked to sit outside because they were cleaning the bar. A member of staff came and asked if we wanted menus. We were then told that we couldn’t order Sunday lunch in the bar, despite the fact that it was being served upstairs and that this is what we had booked for. The staff member then took payment for our drinks but was very unhelpful and not very polite. We had a child as a member of our party and we’re concerned that the music being played loudly outside was really inappropriate for families as it contained a large number of expletives. It was a version of Ariana Grande’s thank u, next. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere at this point.

Visited for Father’s Day Sunday lunch, food was lovely, good portion sizes, staff were friendly, will be back!
