fantastic restaurant. cosy, clean, bright and airy. Servers are friendly and polite, and food is excellent. Menus vary from day to evening/weekend, special offers great value for money. Food very nicely presented and quick service we have eaten there in a party of 12 and a table of 2 and both times been very impressed. off peak (before 5 i think on a sat two of us had 3 courses and 2drinks total price £26!! peak time (Sunday evening) same thing was £33 but free bottle of wine for two people with evening dinner menu (£11.95 per person for two courses). phone to book as quite a small but popular venue

The food here was fabulous and a friendly service ,best Chinese take away ive had in ages. Ended up going three times on a one week holiday.

China Essence Restaurant – Carnforth
Fifiandben

Visited here on recommendation. Quite surprised by the place. Varied menu and reasonably priced. Decent choice for children (our three of 11, 8 and 3 were happy with home made burgers and ribeye steaks!) although definitely not a childrens'-orientated restaurant / pub (not a bad thing). The current wife settled on the venison and I had game pie. Both very good and obviously freshly prepared, followed by home made pannacotta and a blackcurrent sponge with licorice ice cream, both excellent. Second time visit to the Ribble Valley which thinks of itself as a foodie haven but not all its cracked up to be with the two other places we have visited previously (we're used to Angel at Hetton as a local so a place needs to be good to impress!). We'll definitely be back to this place though as there was a distinct lack of "look at me" about the place which seems abundant in Clitheroe and surrounding eateries and it was simply about a decent pub-restaurant with good food.

The Red Pump Inn – Clitheroe
Jo & Lee Atkins

Excellent value for money, very good service and food. Favourites are curry and aromatic duck. We go quite often and the staff are always pleasant.

Oriental Buffet Restaurant – Burnley
Tom Wagstaffe

I am surprised there aren't more recommendations here! I was dubious at the start about what the quality of the food would be like here but after coming here three times recently I have been pleasantly surprised! The first time I pimped for the pork grill, not very healthy but extremely tasty, there were three kinds of pork accompanied by a slice of fried black pudding. Yum. The second time six of us went for sunday lunch, I had roast beef and it was very good, and most recently some of us went drinking there and I shared the combo platter with a companion and compared to the combos I have had in pubs (and there have been a lot!) I have to say it was the best! If you are looking for good quality pub grub at a very reasonable price then you really should go here. The beer is well kept as well. I am going again tonight!

Lea Gate – Preston

My husband and I have just returned from an evening at truffles, the food was very nice but a few things let it down and we left disappointed. After our main course we ordered our desserts and two coffees, after about 20 minutes the coffees arrived and we were told the desserts were on their way and there had been a mix up, that was fine until waiting a further 20 minutes and after both finishing our coffees the waitress came over and collected our cups and hadn't even noticed we hadn't got our desserts so we told her, a further 15 minutes passed and they finally arrived (almost an hour altogether for 2 chocolate parfaits!) by this time we were both a bit peeved and in this time two other tables who ordered 20 minutes after us had both finished and paid their bills, I thought you were supposed to get coffees after dessert, we felt like we'd just been forgotten about, the staff are all friendly but dizzy and forgetful and to be honest we could have walked out without paying and no one would have noticed. Although the food was great we wont be visiting truffles again as it takes good service aswell to make a top restaurant.

Truffles – Chorley
The Nimble Newt

Truffles is the easily best restaurant in the district. The food is always fabulous and looks as good as it tastes and the ambience is wonderfully relaxed with soft music and contemporary decor. Above all, James the Chef cares passionately about food and takes the time to talk to everyone. What are you waiting for?

Incredible food, great atmosphere. Best Chinese in the local area by a mile. Need to book weekends it is unsurprisingly very busy

Golden Dragon – Lancaster

great food, great staff...have been every year for the last five years and stayed overnight...rooms are also lovely...okay,the menu hasn't changed, but when it's this tasty, why mess with it?

Ye Horns Inn – Preston
Food Gourmet.

I would not recommend the red pump to a malnurished greyhound. the food is overpriced poorly presented overcooked, of little content.

Went to this restaurant with my boyfriend on Friday night for an impromptu bite to eat. It was pretty busy which is always a good sign. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, though ordered too much which is easy to do as the menu sounds so nice! The scollops to start were cooked perfectly. The prices are set right. Only one minor complaint, the wicker baskets which hold the free prawn crackers on arrival need changing for something more hygienic. There was an accumulation of cracker dust stuck between the gaps in the bowl which put us off slightly. Maybe a stainless steel bowl would be better.

Valley Cantonese – Rawtenstall
Doc

What a disappointment. Having read the reviews and seen the amazing setting we booked a table at Mitton Hall. "Would you like a drink at the bar?" Without waiting for a reply "It is rather full, I will show you to your table" Then it took a full 15 minutes for someone to take a drink order. When it arrived it was spilt all over my wife..evening ruined. However, given that was an accident what followed was not, tables a mere 6 inches apart, no table linen, no place settings, paper napkins and a restaurant that allows a bar menu and a simply uninspiring wine list. The food was nothing special, the fish soup inedible. Such an exotic and idyllic setting should deliver so much more. I would happily pay twice the price for quality food, atmosphere and service. Unfortunately, none of these were my experience.

Mitton Hall – Clitheroe
Foodie33

Held 50th birthday function here this weekend and was very impressed by the level of service and the standard of the food. Everything was cooked to a fantastic standard and was hot. The staff were all very pleasant and many of our guests have said they will return. No hesitation recommending this eatery.

Eaves Hall Country Hotel – Clitheroe

Service and food was excellent. Staff eager to please. Lovely surroundings - ideal for large groups or parties.

Trattoria San Marco – Preston

good food and good service good value for money. i would be happy to recommend this restaurant

Parmesan And Pepper – Chorley

We thought we'd check this place out as a potential venue for my father's forthcoming 70th birthday celebration. We expected great things, it coming from the same stable as Italian Orchard and Pinocchios. What a disappointment. The food was lovely but only adequate for the rather expensive prices. The service was appalling, again, disappointing. The first bill that arrived was wrong - coming to a whopping £89 for 2! We queried it - the waiter even implied that he didn't believe us - and the second attempt was wrong also. Having approached the desk by now - we eventually got it down to £75. Still expensive considering the standard of food & service received. The manager was summoned but only offered apologies for our disappointment, no 'encouragement' to return and give them another chance. They will not be getting another penny from me, nor my family who were quite keen for the party to take place there.

Trattoria San Marco – Preston
Not Happy

I went to buffet @ Preston two weeks ago for the first time and i must say i was far from impressed! The atmosphere was colder than McDonalds or even a dentist surgery. The soup was cold and when my friend told one of the depressed looking staff they discovered that the soup kettle wasn't even switched on at the plug! i didn't eat mine. We then went for our main course and found that the food was roughly body temperature, not good. These people are serving chicken and prawns at an extremely dangerous temperature! If environmental health took the time to visit this restaurant and probe the supposedly hot food they would shut the place down on the spot! Rest assured i will not be visiting again. I am shocked that we didn't come down with food poisoning. Awful.

I have enjoyed many meals at Calves Head restaurant. I enjoy the food and location so much I have booked my wedding reception. The staff are friendly and always attentive.
