Ømni, Malton — A Hidden Gem in Yorkshire’s Food Capital ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you haven’t yet made the trip to Ømni in Malton, let me save you any further hesitation — go. Just go. We visited on a whim one evening and were immediately struck by the venue itself. Ømni has a genuinely cool, contemporary feel that sets it apart from much of what you’d expect in a market town. The interiors are considered and stylish — the kind of place that feels effortlessly trendy without trying too hard. It made for a great atmosphere from the moment we walked in. The food was, quite simply, excellent. Every dish was well-crafted, beautifully presented and packed with flavour. You could tell real thought had gone into the menu — this isn’t food that plays it safe, and it’s all the better for it. What surprised us most, though, was the price. For the quality on the plate, it felt remarkably reasonable — genuine value in a world where too many restaurants charge a premium for very little. The drinks menu deserves a mention of its own. Cocktails were inventive and well-made, and the overall selection complemented the food perfectly. A strong offering that kept the evening flowing brilliantly. But honestly? What elevated the whole experience was the service. Warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — the kind of staff who make you feel like a welcome guest rather than just a table number. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt overlooked. Malton has long had a reputation as Yorkshire’s food capital, and Ømni is a fine reason why that reputation holds. Whether you’re local or making a special trip, it’s absolutely worth your time. Would we go back? Without question.

I had big expectations when I booked a birthday meal for my partner but the night was disastrous. We had an early booking & the first course came fairly quickly. However the simple steak frites took an hour & half after ordering. Although mine was ok my partners came as a ball of chewy meat which was inedible. I said I wasn't paying for it but wasn't offered an alternative. We were warned by another table they'd been overcharged by £40 & checking our bill ours was £17 over!! We can't blame the very young, apologetic staff that evening but where was the manager/owner overseeing the running of the business. Shocking experience. Wanted to give 1/5 for food & service but it won't allow!!

We booked this restaurant to celebrate our son's birthday, and we were very pleased that we did. The choices of all courses was second to none. And the portion sizes of not only the mains, but the starters too, were massive and so tasty. We had the roast beetroot starter and the tzatziki starter, both which were delicious . All three of us chose Souvlaki as our main course which we greatly enjoyed. Both the staff and the restaurant were first class, and we would definitely return.

Absolutely gorgeous meal as always. You just can’t beat this beautiful place for there famous Fish n Chips. Staff are all so lovely and friendly and accommodating. Our daughter is in a wheelchair and they always make sure we have a table with lots of space for her chair.

Me and my wife visited recently to celebrate the 10th anniversary of us meeting (we met in the restaurant that occupied the premises previously). We had an incredible time. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff very attentive, and the food was amazing! We shared the Dynamite Prawns and Fish Pakoras as starters, and had the Dhaba Chicken Karahi and Garlic Chicken Karahi for out mains, with Masala Chips and Garlic Naan sides. Everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We could not have asked for a better meal, and are only sorry it took us 10 years to return! Would recommend to anyone!
