Smiles go a long way manners are free won’t return

From start to finish, we had a wonderful night with two close relatives. It has been many many years since we have been here, ( back in the chicken in a basket days) and were pleasantly surprised by how good our meal was. From when we first arrived , our welcome was warm and friendly and we immediately felt at home. The meal options were excellent, to the extent that making a choice was rather difficult. We eventually managed however, and all of us agreed our selections had been well chosen. Service was attentive, speedy and friendly. We asked for a peek at the desert menu, not expecting to have anything after our superb main courses, but two of us could not resist the old school dinner type options when we discovered that custard was available, despite not being mentioned on the menu. What a treat ! Not many places offer sweets with custard these days, so that option alone is worthy of many more visits in the future. All in all, we had a lovely evening and would certainly recommend the place to any discerning customers. Many thanks to our hosts. We will be back, although hopefully we will have an easier journey back to Darlington next time. (The A66 closure after 8 pm meant a rather circuitous route home)

An excellent first diner at our new local. Good quality and excellent food. Cooked perfectly and full of flavours. Lovely staff and a great local atmosphere.

Another great meal at Brooks, this time we took some friends who had never been before and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and their evening . Service is always really good and food perfect, keep up the good work .

Fabulous restaurant. We went for a celebration meal with 9 guests and we were really well looked after- really friendly attentive staff who offered great recommendations. The food was delicious and piping hot and both starters and mains were big portions as were the side dishes. Would recommend 100% we will definitely be visiting again!

We had the Friday Fish supper which was excellent. Lovely fish, chips & mushy peas & a glass of wine. Desserts we had lemon tart & profiteroles. Both were delicious & the staff very attentive & friendly even though it was busy.

Excellent good value food offering on the dinner menu.Their roast beef & pies (on pie night) particularly good.Generous with their portions. Well worth a return visit.

The most amazing meal ever! Leon the chef is so talented and friendly akong with the young man that was taking orders and serving thank you so much. Will be back soon.

We had two really nice meals here. Plenty of choice with interesting, well-cooked dishes and the service was great. In fact the staff generally were very welcoming and helpful.

Brooks was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Beautiful environment, friendly and efficient service, an attentive owner who spoke with us personally about our experience, and fantastic food. Wish we lived closer as we would be regulars, without doubt.

A stunning wee pub set on the village green It's run by a lovely family who look after you from the moment you arrive so the service is amazing! Excellent communication too The food is top notch. We were a group of 15 and everyone's choice arrived at the same time
