Anyone looking for great food at reasonable prices will find a visit to Kendells bistro well worthwhile. Situated opposite the BBC centre and close to the Playhouse Theatre, the restaurant offers a pre theatre early bird menu which is excellent value for money. Our party of four was made to feel really at home, with drinks and unlimited supplies of warm crusty french bread served at the table, while we chose from a menu board which changes daily "so that the chef can cook what's freshest ". Three of us had a delicious salmon fishcake starter, beautifully served, whilst the french onion soup, which is a house speciality, was rated superb by the fourth member of the group. For main courses the majority opted for the Pot au boulanger, a casserole of belly pork, Toulouse sausage and vegetables, delicious and very filling- Chicken breast with tarragon was equally good. What little room was left was filled by Bailey's ice cream, a Creme Brulee, and best choice of all, a pot au chocolat, accompanied by a small jug of double cream, slices of strawberry, and meringue. wonderful. With two bottles of wine included in the price, the bill for four, with coffee came to £25 per head. It was nice to able to shake hands with the Chef, Stephen Kendells, before we left to thank him for a memorable meal. Mr Kendell's previous restaurants in leeds were Leodi's and Paris, both of which had great followings in their heyday. He deserves to have the same success here.

During a recent visit to Whitby i stumbled upon this hidden treasure. Myself and Grandma were most amazed by the pleasant smells coming from the restaurant. On arrival outside i was greeted by two plastic dolls. Inside however i was met by the restaurant manager a certain Lisa Notley who showed me to my rather plain wooden bench. As seen on the website this had a maritime feel and Grandma started to reminisce about the merchant navy. Lisa looked after us with drinks and then showed us the chalkboard menu. She seemed a little distracted and when asking for fish and chips she was confused seeming she didn't know the restaurant did them. A little disconcerting considering its a fish and chip shop. I was reassured when io saw through the kitchen at the master fryers at work. doing a merry jig as they battered and crisped the fish. Looking round i chuckled at the billy bass fish guarding an empty mayo bucket of tips. Obviously Lisa had been pulling in the pennies. All in all a fantastic visit and will definitely be coming back. waited over 10 mins for a table...no apology for delay...prawn cocktail was watery and warm. sent back...was returned 10 - 15 mins later, more sauce but still warm. Waited over 45 mins for mains- complained to manager-again no apology for the delay- went to see where they were and miraculously appeared on table 10 seconds later!! where had they been. Manager didn't offer any reduction- in fact he avoided our table like the plague. Would NOT eat here ever again.

Wonderful building & atmosphere.... but £16:00 for two gin and tonics..? I should have known the total bill would be very expensive. Set meal for 2, 1 standard glass of house white & cheapest bottle of shiraz came to 115:00... for 2 people. I will only go here for very special occasions, if at all. The Cheung Wan chinese buffet was much better value for money.

We visited recently on a Friday night. Ambience was great, very relaxed atmosphere, and definitely much better than what we expected. Service from the staff was good, and we got them to recommend the Tapas selection. Food was excellent, and very reasonably priced. Sangria was out of this world. Everybody had a great time. Despite being a big group of 15, we were served very quickly. On top of my highly recommended to visit restaurants. Will look forward to going there again soon!

A restaurant worth driving 20 miles from Holmfirth to Bradford to eat in, passing many Bradford eating places on the way. Do not be put off by the title 'vegetarian', this is a vegetarian restaurant with diverse dishes to suit many tastes including 'light' options. We are not vegetarians but the food is far superior to and more interesting than most eating places we know. The service is friendly and quick, the food is freshly cooked while you wait and as hot and spicy as you wish with dishes suitable for children. A simple decor belies the delights within.

Bobby, his father and a wonderful team of hardworking staff from Prashad organised and provided the food for our wedding earlier this year. It was without a doubt one of the highlights of the day. The food was stunning....from the beautifully spiced starters to the aubergine and pea curries and dessert. It couldn't have been better. Nearly all our guests commented on just how good the food had been - from my wife's relatives who're versed in southern Indian cuisine (one couple used to run a South Indian restaurant in Sydney) to mates of mine from London who declared it the best curry they'd ever had ! Whether its a take-out, a night out at the restaurant or catering for an event, I couldn't recommend them more highly.

For me good food and diet meeting my ethical requirements are always that helps me decide which restaurant I should visit and eat in. Time and again I come back to my roots, ie Prashad Vegetarian. Not only it is ethical, but the food is simply out of this world, SHUDDHA & SATVIK, meaning pure & healthy. One can only come across such attention to food and diet only when one is devoted. That is the root of Prashad's success, devotion, pure and simple.

I would recommend you miss this one out. The quality has deteriorated very quickly. A group of us from work had a Christmas meal there & enjoyed a good night. Four of us called back last week & were very disappointed. The majority of it was cold & when we asked the chef to replenish the vegetables we were told that it would be replaced when the dishes were empty. In other words eat the dried up remains & we'll bring out fresh for the next group. We told the waitress when she came to our table. After discussing the matter with "management" she came back to offer sweets or coffees - too late we wanted a nice main course. We won't be returning & we will pass this on to anyone we know.

Although I was surprised to find curry on the menu, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We went to the Prachee with some neighbours before Christmas. They were still doing the renovation work but it didn't spoil the meal. We all four of us had starters and main course with side dishes and drinks. The food was very good indeed and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We will certainly be going back.

Four of us dined here on the Sunday lunch time eat-as-much-you-like buffet. There was a very good selection of dishes and the food was simply fabulous. The place was heaving with people and we were very lucky to get a table, as no doubt this is a very popular place to eat out. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and we shall be back before too long.

The food here is awesome for all veggies! I come here every now and again for a freshly made masala dosa! Worth every penny!!

Prashad is a very good eating place, especially for gujarati dishes. Visit once and you will feel great

We have visited the gray ox for years as a pub that is local to us and serves great food with a smile. however, this was not the case on our recent visit, the food has gone downhill in recent months, and the service or more the treatment we received was just appalling. The young girl left in charge since the owners stopped working just isn't up to the job, abrupt to the point of rude, the other staff made up for it and we enjoyed their chatty enthusiasm. Food has gone ott and specials distant from the pubby freshness we had previously enjoyed. a shame to say we won't be returning, as it was our favourite local restaurant. seems to have lost touch with the ethos somewhat.

To my shame, I did not know of the existence of this fine restaurant until last night. A friend and I was looking for a restaurant to eat in prior to going to a Seasick Steve gog at the O2 Academy. My friend had wanted to go to a Chinese restaurant and I wasn't aware of any near the Academy. We spotted diners through pavement level windows in the Red Chillie and called in on spec. The restaurant was nearly full despite it being a Tuesday evening and a large number of the customers were Chinese. The menu contained many dishes that I'd not heard of and I wasn't tempted by the lung dish!. However, we found some dishes that were both new to us and were tempting as most of the menu choices were to be honest and had a wonderful gastronomic experience. Unlike most Chinese meals the two starters (crispy duck and pancakes + Chinese crackers) and two main dishes (crispy stir fried chilli beaf and a spicy mince pork dan dan noodle dish) shared between us were more than ample and for the first time ever in a Chinese restaurant, I left food uneaten, not because it was unpalatable but because the portion sizes were large enough to fill me before getting to the end of them. The food is great, fresh, visually appealing and the waiters attentive and polite. The meal for two including a pint of lager and a large bottle of mineral water came to £34 - fantastic value! I've already recommended the place to anyone prepared to listen to my rave reviews at work. I'll be back within the next couple of weeks with friends.

I think this place is a must visit whether you live in Leeds or are just visiting!!! I got introduced last week to it and have just arrived home from my second visit. The starters are so well made, even the Spring Rolls are to die for! For main you cannot fault the Bentou Boxes AT ALL for Value for Money.. and even though it comes with fruit included in the Box, the Cheesecake is an absolute must. I will be making this my place of choice for ANY meal out in future, the variety is amazing. And for vegetarians there is an amazing variety, and also VEGANS!! Get in on the Little Tokyo action!! They have such a varied menu!!!
