I have to say I was surprised at just how good the food was, most pub type restaurants are all very similar in the Lake District. What’s on offer on their menus, the quality of the food served & the price. Here the menu was a special one for Valentine’s Day but the regular menu was still available. I’d say it was maybe a little more expensive than the standard LD pub restaurants, but my god was it worth every penny. We had the special sharing rump steak dish, which was cooked to perfection as was the accompanying vegetables with a very tasty gravy. The food was divine & they obviously had a very talented chef, the service was also excellent from the team of young lady’s working that night. Also the red wine of the month was so good too. I highly recommend anyone thinking of eating here to try it, I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Paying a visit to the Lakes we wanted somewhere special to dine out one evening. The website and menu looked really good so a booking was made. I have to say that we fell lucky. A great place for an evening meal with superb food and excellent service. It’s unfortunate that we live so far away otherwise Grants of Castlegate, to give it its full title would be our “go to place.”

Another great Sunday lunch, a must for anyone in the Keswick, Penrith area who haven’t discovered the place yet.

Excellent meal and delightful service. Menu included tradional Lakeland options and some creative new dishes. We loved the mackerel and cashews. The venison was generous and very tender and the whole evening was very good value.

We had Sunday lunch 9th Feb for my wife’s birthday and it was great. The Service was really friendly, the main course were excellent, I recommend the roast beef dinner and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious. We definitely recommend a trip to the Queens.

This is the second time this year that we have been to Grants and it doesn’t disappoint. The fillet steak was delicious cooked exactly as I like it and it was just as good as the first one. The roasted chicken and bacon was absolutely amazing excellent combination of flavours with a carrot purée sauce. Finished off with an amazing sticky toffee pudding that we had to share as I could not have eaten the whole portion by myself. Compliments to the chef, service was excellent, worth every penny, a beautiful dinner to finish off our anniversary. Thank you to all the staff at Grants

New Years Eve family meal out. 3 courses, very delicious food. Great service. Had a very enjoyable time. A first visit. So will no doubt be going again.

We went for a meal on New Year’s Eve and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and the chef for making it a special evening. The food was exceptional, great service and value for money. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and really looking forward to our next visit.

We recently celebrated my mom’s birthday at Grants of Castlegate, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with a menu that is so well thought out—it’s clear the chef puts great care and creativity into every dish. Booking a table online was seamless, with clear and helpful communication throughout the process. I have dietary requirements, and the chef went above and beyond to accommodate them, which made the meal all the more special. The service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and professional. It really added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. We couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience, and we will most definitely be back again soon!

As always the food and atmosphere was excellent. We had the Christmas menu which had a lot of choice for the starter, main and dessert. The new wine list is extensive and the Malbec was divine. We will be going back soon.
