Black Swan Inn – PenrithI travelled from Essex to Newcastle on business and stopped at this hotel for some lunch with a colleague. We found it easy to stop there as road works were hectic during the time in Penrith, and we were very happy they were there as we found this place wonderful. we normally meet elsewhere but we have now diverted to stopping here as the food was lovely, staff very friendly and overall excellent. we are now regular eaters here and recommend it to anyone wanting good quality pub food.
Agricultural Hotel – PenrithAn excellent cafe in a wonderful location just off the A6 in Brougham Hall. This family run cafe is worth visiting to enjoy fresh food and a range of teas and coffees in a warm and friendly atmosphere .
Fusion Cafe – PenrithWe ate here a couple of weeks ago on our way to Scotch Corner; our waitress showed us to our table and told us that there was no real ale at the moment. She returned a couple of minutes later and took our order which eventually arrived. The starters were served with coleslaw which smelled distinctly off and when we complained it was rancid, the waitress simply said we were wrong - the coleslaw was only made yesterday. The chef (Mick) sent us a message saying that no -one else had complained so it must be ok. The rest of the meal was at best adequate if not inspiring and definitely not up to the gastro-pub standard we expect nowadays. We all felt queezy after our meals and my wife spent the rest of the day complaining of stomach cramp. My recommendation of the Agricultural Hotel? Answer: Don't bother!
Agricultural Hotel – PenrithAll meals at Brantwood are fabulous - well worth a visit. We have been visiting for at least 20 years. In fact we visited today and my husband had a Cumberland Grill and I had Chicken Sweet and Sour with Rice - delicious.
Brantwood Country Hotel – PenrithI loved my two night break at the Black Swan! I was taken there for my birthday by my husband on the Intermate Getaway deal that they run. We had Champagne & handmade Chocolate in our room on arrival & our evening meal on both nights was fantastic! The Best Steak we have ever had! The Sea Bass dish was also really good as were the homemade desserts. It was great sitting in the bar by the log fire & just being able to chill out! Thanks for a great weekend

Indiagate – Penriththis place is a rip off, when we went there were police there arresting the owner for selling drink to people who are under age and then charging a fortune on their bill. the owner is rude and very nasty as we asked for the bill he had a go and said that we never had starters or desert so he added an extra 25.00 on the bill, what is all that about?????? the best place to go is cagneys in poenrith it is alwys busy and never lets people dovn. the takeaways are fantastic and the company of the owner (hawk) is very nice to talk to i wish i went here first instead of wasting my night and money in indiagate. STAY AWAY FROM INDIAGATE
Indiagate – PenrithFood O.K. but menu very limited, good selection of beers. Staff - Unhelpful, rude, arrogant The place - lovely location but the toilets have not been cleaned in months, (human excrement on the toilet cubicle walls) just hope the kitchen is a little cleaner! I would not recommend this establishment!
