The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordLovely birthday meal at the smokey cow, what an unknown gem! All food was lovely and service was delightful
The Smokey Cow – TelfordDisappointing. Food inconsistent. Tuna Niçoise salad really good. Meat pie terrible, dry, reheated. Service poor. Staff young and inexperienced. We weren’t asked if the food was ok, not offered more drinks, or asked if we wanted to see dessert menus. Restaurant nicely decorated but as soon as you step into the hotel to use the toilets, it’s filthy and needs redecorating. Just generally disappointing as it could have been such a better experience
The Malthouse – TelfordWe went for the 2 for 15 meals there was plenty of choice. I had a mozerella & tomato salad which was so tasty. For main I opted for the ham, egg & chips, the portion was very generous and eggs cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic and our waitress was excellent even though she was clearly very busy.
Water Rat – IronbridgeWe went for breakfast and the portions were huge! Really delicious food in a beautiful setting.
The Malthouse – TelfordOur regular haunt! Quality of food, whether at lunchtime or in the evening, is always consistently good and there is a strong service team in place. Well kept beers and a good range of wines and spirits in a beautiful location ( especially good when the weather is fine!).
The White Hart – IronbridgeThe Early Bird dining menu at £15 for 2 courses sounded like a perfect opportunity to catch up with a friend midweek. The smoked salmon on my starter was lush and the presentation of the dish was perfect. I then chose the fish pie for main, which was, again, beautifully presented and delicious, served with lashings of broccoli, just how I like it. My vegetarian friend was equally happy with her chosen dishes and they also looked great. It was such a treat to be so well looked after by the friendly staff. The Water Rat and its sister pub The White Hart have never failed to please me and various groups of friends over the past few years. I'd like to say thank you for being there. We do appreciate it.
Water Rat – IronbridgeIt was very brightly lit which stifled warmth and ambiance. The staff were pleasant and welcoming however. I don’t recall hearing any background music. The starter labelled medium hot was so hot it was inedible. The pork ribs were tough and also inedible. Very disappointed and despite contacting the company we have not had any response.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe were staying in Ironbridge for the weekend and booked here for Sunday evening. We arrived and were seated, got our drinks no problem. Ordered our food, a starter each and a main course each. The starters came and were looking lovely, then straight away the waitress brought the main course??? I said we are having our starters, why have you brought the main courses?? She tutted pulled a face and said well you didn't say. I said we ordered starters from the menu, why would I want my main meal with my starter? I told her we didn't want them and to take them away.... the attitude was not great. My partner was having the tikka curry chicken wing starter, there was no side plate to put the bones on, no wipes for your hands nothing. Bit too messy really. After we finished our starters the mains were rushed back out. Not the re cooked mains, but the ones from earlier which they had obviously just kept warm, well when I said kept warm the fries were freezing cold. Like other people on the reviews my partner had ordered the brisket with the bloomer bread. Again it was 2 slices of cheap white bread which had gone hard as they had just kept the dinners warm. Not the best. We enjoyed Ironbridge and will be going back but not to the Swan Hotel and, I generally always read reviews, I will be checking in future before booking anywhere. The amount of bad reviews on here I am shocked that the management hasn't done something to change, the staff and attitude of them as the girl that served us had a face like slapped bottom and could be less bothered being there!
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordDelicious food and great service.
The Butchers Kitchen – TelfordHearty, flavoursome food in a cosy environment with friendly attentive staff.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordFirst meal there last night. Cannot fault the service, particularly lovely man on the bar. Unfortunately, the staff are let down by the average food and the cold lighting (although the air temperature was good). The belly pork starter was chewy and so was the short rib which was supposedly slow cooked for 8 hours. Perhaps it had dried out afterwards or not been fully submerged. It was also meant to come with leeks which were missing. And it was HUGE! Great if you have a big appetite but not if you were hoping for dessert! My partner enjoyed his Smokey cow burger however and the Brie wedges were delicious. Lovely place and lovely staff. Fine if you want some average pub grub but don’t expect fine dining.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordNice food nice staff good value and a decent choice. Advised that if we ordered the pie it would be around 20 minutes as made fresh to order which if you are aware is no problem at all and the pie was very good.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe went on the recommendation of a friend and returned two days later, so we enjoyed our visit. We have now booked a Christmas meal with friends. The venue is cosy and atmospheric, the service friendly and informal and the food tasty.
Water Rat – IronbridgeMe and my friend shared a few starters / side plates each. The loaded fries were unreal and so were the chicken wings and chicken strips. I didn’t overly enjoy the Mac and cheese but I had more than enough food anyway. Staff were lovely and attentive and the place was busy but not over crowded which was perfect! We had a great time
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWe have been to the Malthouse quite a few times and usually enjoy it however this time we went for Sunday roast and unfortunately it was very disappointing. We both had roast beef which was very thinly sliced, very chewy/tough and difficult to cut. The roast potatoes were also cold and parsnip barely roasted. Staff were pleasant.
The Malthouse – TelfordA GROUP OF 6 WE ALL HAD VERY GOOD MEALS BUT THE SIDES AT AN EXTRA COST WERE NOT WORTH ANY MONEY AT ALL.
