15 of us went for a family get together for Christmas and seeing as we all had different things, some having 3 courses some having 2 course and some picking off the main menu everything came to the table piping hot at just the right time. The food was excellent, the staff were great and all the family really enjoyed their meal.

Lovely food. Friendly service Couldn't fault

We are quite regular at The Last as we find food and service generally good . On Sunday 15/ 11/24, we had a table for 8 booked, and we had walked up, so a drink or two would be in order to enjoy the afternoon. Food was good , service a little slow when it wasn't that busy, but sadly again , they had run out of all premier lagers which we feel shouldn't keep happening. There was no reason given or apology. We decided to eat and head else where to finish our afternoon, but then to top it all , their card machine wouldn't work , luckily having cash to get away . Not what's needed to relax and enjoy lunch out, so come on, everyone, get back on your game and make The Last the go to place .

Meal for 8, food was great, service was great, great surroundings, you would be mad not to give it a try.

Service was very slow, but staff behind bar just standing chatting. Shown to our table but not asked if we wanted drinks. No-one came to take food order, I had to call waitress over to our table to take our order. Poor service aside, the food was good and plates were emptied.

Visited on Saturday lunchtime. Food was lovely as always. Service took a long time and tbh the thing that spoilt the visit was the fact it was freezing cold. It was a cold day anyway but there was no heating. I had to eat my meal with my coat on as did my son. We would’ve stayed longer but it was uncomfortably cold.

A late booking on a Friday evening close to Christmas but as with our past experiences at the water rat a very pleasurable experience. Service had that mix of good timing with being over the top. Staff were brilliant. The food was good with portion size just right for us. Highly recommended for a visit.

Came on Friday the 13th for the Christmas Fayre Food and service were fantastic. Drinks when ordered were served quickly and correctly well done all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening

Took my elderly parents to lunch here . From start to finish the service was outstanding. Victoria is a credit to you. Couldn’t do enough for us as to be fair the other staff . Food piping hot and generous portions . Nicely presented too . Large menu choice would meet most diners needs . We had my dad’s 80’th birthday here a few years back and are never disappointed. Highly recommend

I booked a Christmas meal here for 13 of us from work. The meal was excellent - food was piping hot and good value for money. Harry and the team were brilliant, service was quick and we had a really enjoyable evening. I would definitely book again.

This is a lovely pub in a lovely location by the canal. We had the Christmas meal which was very tasty and not too expensive. The service was good and we were made to feel welcome.

We booked lunch with The Malthouse. The food was absolutely brilliant. The service was good too. I would strongly recommend giving them a try.

We had a lovely meal for our department Christmas lunch. Staff were great both before and during our visit. We can recommend the cocktails too, particularly the Espresso Martinis. Thank you!

We booked here as we’re close to the area and wanted a little treat before heading home. We booked online a couple of hours before and were excited as it’d been recommended. When we arrived there was a table clearly complaining at the bar, we weren’t acknowledged or a quick, “will be with you in a minute” when the table left, to which they said to us on their way out, ‘I wouldn’t if I were you’. I told the server we had a table booked, they said it wasn’t ready (we were a few minutes early) which is fine. We then waited another 10 minutes, no acknowledgment or sorry for taking so long. Another table approached him whilst he was laying our table and we overheard them asking for some sort of discount and didn’t look too happy, clearly another complaint. Rather than him telling them he’ll be 2 minutes so that he could see to us and take us to our table, he dealt with them instead??? Making us wait even longer. There was a lady sat in the bar who also said to us not to bother at that point I told the server we were going elsewhere as it’d taken far too long to even sit us down and 2 tables told us not to risk it!! I’m not sure if it was a staffing problem but they didn’t seem too busy and to be honest, I’ve worked in hospitality, some simple manners and acknowledgement is common knowledge and doesn’t take much!! We won’t be returning and we didn’t even make it to the food but after reading the reviews we won’t bother. Such a shame.

Visited on 6/12/24, great food! Lovely country pub. Service was a little slow but the lady who looked after us was so lovely and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic service. The waitress was excellent at discussing my dietary needs and very pleasant with the children. Good food. Only improvement would be for the restaurant to be warmer, we were cold.
