The food and service was great. We had a lovely time overall!
The Smokey Cow – TelfordTook family for a meal early Saturday teatime. Callum was excellent for service and friendliness however the meals were hit and miss. 2 people had the steak and blue cheese ciabatta - the steak was chewy and no real taste of blue cheese. The steak on the surf and turf was also tough and that was ordered with blue cheese sauce which wasn’t a sauce. Chunky chips were overcooked on all meals.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWow what can I say the food was amazing the steak was cooked to perfection and easy to cut . The steak amd Ale pie was superb and the staff were just brilliant couldn't fault the meal or even the stay there . Thank you for a brilliant stay . Will definitely be back.
Water Rat – IronbridgeLovely family meal
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburySelected this as one of the closest to our overnight accommodation, and offered a very reasonable selection of food, at fair pricing. There was plentiful parking albeit poorly lit. The restaurant was bright and fresh having undergone refurbishment, and we were welcomed by the young lady who was our server for the evening. Drinks were ordered and served promptly (it was quiet for a Saturday night, but had been busy much earlier we were assured). I chose a pint of cider shandy and my wife a large White Zinfandel. My wife (celebrating a birthday) avoided her usual steak and opted for Hunter’s Chicken, and I asked for a starter and side to be served as a main which was accepted without missing a beat, my choice being BBQ Buffalo wings coupled with Dirty Fries (Shropshire Blue Cheese with Jalapeños ). We waited just a few minutes and the food appeared, and generous was an understatement! My ‘5’ wings had morphed to 8, and the Hunter’s chicken came with a huge bowl of wedges masquerading as fries. They were like small roast potatoes and I ended up with half a dozen to ‘try’!. The BBQ wings were smothered in sauce and were delicious, as were the dirty fries. The Hunter’s chicken was summarily demolished and the bacon was crispy and smokey. When she came to clear away, we chatted with the lady server who was friendly and straightforward, and she came across as very genuine and interesting. Paying the bill, I was pleasantly surprised to find it much cheaper than expected, and even with a tip it was still much better value than our home turf in Devon. Thoroughly recommended, and would definitely return if ever in the area.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyNever had a bad meal or experience here started using approx 12 months ago Great Food Friendly Staff Good selection on the Menu
The Queens Head – OswestryI cannot fault The Tilley. Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere and great service. I would highly recommend this place for an evening with friends. Nothing is too much trouble. We are very lucky to have such a gem of a pub local to us. Thank you!
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyFirst thing - the food was absolutely amazing. Had main and dessert and wasn’t disappointed. However it was extremely slow being served - don’t know if they were low on staff but was a long wait. The waiter was extremely pleasant so just a shame this let it down. It was also freezing and not much of an atmosphere despite there being a fair few people there and the twinkling lights. Would go again and hope the negatives were a one off.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordI do like the elephant crossing and I brought my family to come and taste the food, which is very nice! However just a couple of things from my last visit, there it still has a very amateur feel in the service, not all the alcohol pumps are on downstairs and no-one knew if they was rum, we were charged different amounts for drinks that was on the menu! The beef brisket has gone which is a tragedy in itself those fries were lovely, and disappointed we couldn’t get burritos on the night service!! Also its a bit strange that the Mexican spicey bites are served by its and with chips and they are just put onto top of the chips which is odd! Would have been better to have the chips with other toppings instead of duplicating which is already there to give a bit more variety! The toilets were absolutely freezing it takes the fun out of the visit when it’s that bad, that’s on top of the fact you get stuck coming out as the toilets are so small! The food was tasty and overall it was a good experience, but they def need to up the game with restaurants likes Darcy’s and la casita
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeWe booked a table for 2 on Monday evening 17th March, very easily. We was greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. There was a very good choice of food, and we were told of the offer of 2 courses including a drink for £25 each. We choose the calamari to start, along with fish & chips, steak & ale pie for main & finished off with rhubarb crumble & custard. The food came very quickly after ordering, it was all absolutely delicious & of a high quality. A lovely evening spent in a local eatery with a very warm & friendly atmosphere.
Water Rat – Ironbridge5 of us went for Sunday lunch at the bull, booked online which was really easy to do. Service was great, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and amazing value for money, proper home cooked dishes. The belly pork starter was the best I have ever tasted, and the portion sizes were generous. There was a slight wait between courses but that was obviously because the food was being cooked fresh, you could tell by the quality of it, i had no issues with the time it took to come out nice to actually sit and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed. I can't wait to visit again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Bull – ShrewsburyWent for Sunday lunch with the family. Sunday roasts were stunning, daughter ordered from the main menus and it was lovely and the lad ordered of the kids menu. We all really enjoyed (the roast brisket is absolutely to die for). Left stuffed and impressed with the cost too. Service was spot on.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordHaving lived in the gorge for nearly 3 years I'm ashamed to say that it took me so long to go to the elephant crossing. I've now been twice in the last month, once for their day to day menu and secondly for their Sunday lunch. All food and drinks were fantastic and importantly, the staff are brilliant. I would highly recommend anyone local or further afield going.
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeHad a fabulous bottomless brunch yesterday with 2 friends. Food was excellent good choice of cocktails and staff and servicing was amazing. Very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Really nice complimentary jug of Pimm’s on table waiting for us when we arrived. Best brunch we’ve had. Will definitely be back. Thank you to all.

The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyHad afternoon tea with a twist and was not disappointed, it was very nice and refreshingly different. Our waitress was very good too. Would recommend for something a little different.
