60th birthday meal couldn't have been better, easily some of the best food we've ever had! Excellent use of local and seasonal ingredients. All 3 courses were delicious and beautifully presented. Service was spot on and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Well done to the chef and all the team.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWhat a find! Easy to book online. Helpful and friendly staff. A relatively limited menu, however, a good choice. We very rarely eat steak out as it is not always cooked to our liking. We decided on the fillet of beef stroganoff and we weren't disappointed. Excellent quality and it was cooked to perfection. Really good value for money. Would definitely go again.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickSuperb My wife and I came for dinner and had a great evening. The service was good, the drinks were good. The food was god. All boxes ticked. We have been before, so knew (hoped) what expect. We were not disappointed. We will be back in the area next year and sure to book in. We have also recommended Grants to where we stay.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickDespite a booking faux pad last year (not created by us I must stress) we decided to try The Pheasant again this year for Sunday lunch. The Beef pie was sublime and cooked to perfection along with gorgeous chips and seasonal vegetables. My favourite ale is Theakston Old Peculiar and in all honesty it was the best draught pint of TOP I've ever had, so thank you all at The Pheasant. My wife had the roast beef which she thought was truly excellent, the only critique would be is that the need could have been cut thinner rather than hunking great thick slices which made the best not easy to cut or chew. On the whole a lovely meal and well worth the booking.

On arriving the bar staff were welcoming and fun, classic pub very comfortable and enjoyed couple of decent pints. Horse and Farrier – PenrithFirst time at Grants but it won’t be the last. The food is excellent. I had the cheese soufflé Lamb and sticky toffee pudding. Portions were perfect. My husband had the steak which he is still talking about days later. The service was friendly. The wine was very good. The atmosphere was relaxing. We don’t dine out much because we are always disappointed as we can cook better ourselves. We were very impressed would certainly recommend. Thank you
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe always dine here at least once during our annual week staying in Millbeck, near Keswick. Excellent atmosphere and food. We booked for an evening meal. Definitely worth a visit and if dining in the evening, booking advised although you may be lucky as walk ins may be available in the bar area or outside in the summer. Helpful and pleasant staff. The X4 bus stop outside will take you to Bassenthwaite and stops along the way for Millbeck.
