Good food, good service, nice atmosphere!

As with previous visits, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Sage and vine. There is a good choice of food. A lot of the dishes offer unusual and well thought out ingredients that not only well presented but taste lovely. The atmosphere is good and the place is very clean. The staff are always very friendly and helpful.

excellent meal once again. The steak was one of the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection. very friendly staff, excellent wine, the place never disappoints!

Long story short, being a foodie and being diagnosed as gluten intolerant was really tough. After being served so many poor, half-portion, "adapted" GF meals since, I am constantly on the look-out for GF-friendly restaurants to promote to other GFs. Well, this is certainly the best gluten free meal I have ever had and probably one of the best meals ever too even without considering it was GF. Every element of my beef stroganoff was cooked perfectly, the meat and the veg just melted, and the meal meal portion was very generous. Had scallops to start and they were also gorgeous. Best of 4 meals we had in Grasmere during our stay by far. If you are GF then nothing is too much trouble here, and you will get an amazing meal no matter what. Fab venue and fab wine too.

3rd time visiting The Pheasant Inn and each time the food has been amazing. It is by far the best place to visit, especially for a Sunday roast. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Can not fault it at all. We’ll be back when we’re next in the Lakes.

Great food and great ambience.

We came after hiking Blencathra, visiting from the Isle of Man & Cheltenham. We are fussy with roasts - especially having a veggie in the group. This was the most incredible roast ever. Creamed leeks to perfection, the most beautiful array of carrots!! Roasties, Yorkshires, gravy, even mash all amazing. Veggie wellington was insane (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like mushrooms). Presented beautifully too. Meat absolutely perfect and cooked how you want. The loveliest, cosy village atmosphere to have a drink and a laugh. The nicest waiters who sang happy birthday to one of our group. We will absolutely be coming back for our next trip! Thank you!

A little known gem. A wet and miserable day outside but inside a roaring fire, superb food, and a friendly and welcoming team. Genuinely could not have been better. The roasts went down well including the mammoth Yorkshire puddings….. my Haggis and Neeps (off the specials board) was brilliant. Lovely warm puddings topped us off. Book to avoid disappointment.
