Another great meal at the Horse and Farrier, delicious food beautifully presented ! The fennel ham on the stone bass dish was amazing ! Compliments to the chef ! Friendly staff a great night .

What a great place to dine. It was a busy Friday evening, but this did not affect the excellent service - the staff were very attentive. The Beef Fillet Stroganoff was delicious and a great take on a well-known dish. Plenty of fresh vegetables served with the main course. Very tasty ice-cream to finish. Would definitely recommend dining here.

Had a lovely meal at Lewis’s on our last night in Grasmere. Food was delicious. Had three courses and all were great - would recommend the fillet stroganoff and the Eccles cake for dessert was indulgence personified. Staff was excellent and although it was quiet when we arrived it soon got busier and had a great atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again when we next stay in Grasmere.

Totally brilliant in every way! A beautiful historic country pub, nicely decorated with great food (we could have happily had everything in the menu) and lovely, warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff were excellent and we’ll definitely be back soon, thank you!

The food was brilliant, we all very much enjoyed it. My only comment was that we were put on a table upstairs and it’s clear they hadn’t used that area in a while and everything was very dusty. I did ask the waitress if she could wipe the table down but it wasn’t the best and we had to wipe all our own cutlery before using.

We had a lovely meal at the Lewis's bistro in grasmere, we will definitely be booking again. A good service and friendly staff , the food was delicious. I had the beef which we thought was a little bit over priced for for a 6oz beef and chips with veg, but it was nice.

We had a lovely meal on our final night in the Lakes. The food was presented perfectly and full of flavour. The wine we chose was very good too. We had an excellent evening. Well done to the team at Lewis's.

Excellent Stone Bass and Excellent Service. Friendly efficient staff, lovely table in the window…. Really nothing to find fault with! Came back today because we liked it so much !

We chose Grants for a pre theatre meal @ Penrith Players because it was recommended on our tickets and as we didn't really know the area we thought we might as well try it. We weren't disappointed! On the morning of our visit I emailed for parking information and Grants replied very quickly and suggested a car park nearby. When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice waitress and asked if we would like the pre theatre menu, our drinks selection arrived in a timely manner and we were given bread & oil dip whilst we made our meal choices. We chose Vodka & Beetroot Cured Salmon and Bourbon & Maple Southern Fried Chicken starters, both of which were excellent in flavour, presentation and portion size. For mains we chose Roast Chicken Breast with Madeira Sauce and Sea Bass with Lobster & Prawn Ravioli both of which again were excellent in every way. We decided to share a cheese board for desert and this came with crackers, butter, chutney, apple slices and three cheeses. The staff knew we were visiting the theatre and made sure that our food was served in plenty of time but in no way rushed. All in all a fantastic little restaurant that we would highly recommend. Looking at the standard (non theatre) menu we both agreed that we would come back for a meal very soon. (For information, our theatre performance started at 7:30pm and we booked our table for 6:00pm)
