Having come here for several years on our annual visit to the Lakes and been very satisfied with the food, but not so this time. Food was generally not up to their usual standard, they forgot one of the starters, forgot to serve vegetables for two dishes, the one portion of chips ordered were undercooked and they had run out of mango chutney for the ordered curry! However one member of the serving team did his best to look after us, but it looked like they had problems in the kitchen.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The food was good but the service not so good. We waited 45 minutes due to the fact that they had lost our order.

We had a lovely meal here on Saturday night. I had the tempura vegetables followed by the vegetable curry. I thoroughly enjoyed both courses. Beautifully prepared and well seasoned. I had to ask for a plate for the curry as I couldn’t eat from the dishes they were served in. That was no problem at all. My husband enjoyed his Gambas Pil Pil and Fillet Steak Stroganoff. Both full but we could not resist the delicious Lemon and Raspberry Cheesecake and ordered a slice to share with creamy vanilla ice cream. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Grasmere x

We stumbled upon this lovely little pub on our journey to the lakes and had a wonderful lunch stop there. The food is delicious and home cooked. All the staff are welcoming and attentive . We enjoyed our lunch so much on the Thursday that we decided to book a table and go back for Sunday roast, we were not dissapointed! The beef was so tender as was the lamb. Highly recommend this little gem

I think we were unlucky ? The roast potatoes were dry, hard lumps, nothing tasted fresh or homemade. Gravy was lovely. One meal took a good fifteen minutes after everyone had already had theirs to be brought out. The service was poor, nobody asked if we wanted desserts .. just a really strange atmosphere. I wouldn't reccomend bringing children. One child was asked what ice cream was wanted at the start and the other not asked at all...but was brought out a flavour she doesn't like ... apparently there wasn't other flavours available other than strawberry. We were sat by staff , near to the bar area as a family with young children which a customer must have had bad wind that day sat on the stool, lots of foul language too but again maybe just unlucky where seated , staff didn't seem bothered ? We didn't really have any expectations, just wanted a Sunday lunch near to where we were staying. Please be aware pork is advertised but no longer available. I do believe customer service is priority regardless of the quality of food. We were advised not to come here by a local family but decided to try for ourselves.

We came for Sunday lunch (booked in advance) absolutely yummy high quality food. I had Beef my Husband had Pork and both as good as each others. Staff really friendly and attentive we will be back.

We dined here twice during our holiday. The food was very good and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Excellent meal, our friends came up from Lancashire, thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.

Great food fantastic service good value for money

We had the most wonderful stay at this gorgeous historic Inn. The food is absolutely delicious, the beef bourgignon pie was the best I have ever tasted. We were booked in for the ghost hunt night run by Sefton Paranormal Investigations and learnt so much about the spooky history. It was a very interesting night, with lots of ghostly goings on! Will definitely book again.

As always, the food was great, good sized portions and good value. We come here every time we visit Keswick and never disappointed. Consistently good.

First visit to Carlisle, had a lovely evening meal at Sage and Vine. Starter of the bread and dips, then a pizza each, lots of food, very full at the end. Welcoming staff and lovely atmosphere within the restaurant. Will certainly be back when we return to Carlisle.

Had a fantastic meal at Lewis Bistro . Superb flavour excellent service and a really nice atmosphere.

We so enjoyed our meals at Lewis’s Bistro that we had dinner there on 3 consecutive nights. Delicious food, very well presented, great service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
