Pleasantly surprised at the overall experience on a Saturday evening having booked earlier that day. Scallops nicely cooked. Delighted with the Chardonnay we drank. Fillet steak was quality and cooked as desired. Chicken supreme also good. Sticky toffee pudding to share and espresso martini both up to standard. Would book again.

Sage and Vine – CarlisleVery disappointed in the nearly hour wait for our meal. Even more disappointed when paying my bill, and asked how it was. I kept it polite and said “ok”. But was pressed by the lady over and over to expand and when I did, she didn’t like my answer and as good as tried to turn it on ourselves. Never experienced customer service like it. I have booked for another meal for next Friday 24 Jul 26 at this bistro but obviously can you cancel this now please. Thankyou.

For 3 people to have a main meal each and drinks it came to £62 which we thought was a brilliant price. If we are ever in Carlisle again, we would definitely come back to the sage and vine.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleI visited for dinner last Wednesday with my husband, for a Birthday treat. We had eaten there before, and knew we would be well looked after. We were very pleased with both the delicious food and the friendly service. The menu has unusual and interesting dishes, not just your usual Pub Grub! The staff were lovely, attentive and helpful, and let me borrow a cushion when I found the wooden chairs a bit hard! We don't live far away, and we will certainly be back for more.

I had the chicken with mushrooms and fondant potato in a gorgeous cream sauce and my hubby the sea bass which was equally delicious. The accompanying fresh vegetables were cooked to perfection too. We've eaten in many top restaurants all over the UK and Lewis's Bistro was up there with the rest! If Giles Coren were to visit Grasmere he would agree. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening in your lovely restaurant - we will def be back and will recommend to friends and family too x
