It's a delightful restaurant, quiet and unassuming. One always feels looked after, yet left alone to enjoy the evening. That subtle balance is so important. Horse and Farrier Inn – KeswickWe had Sunday lunch as a family of 4. The menu choice for a Sunday was great no need to just have a roast! Service was good. Food was tasty. I found it pretty expensive though £9.99 for a kids meal no drink included. I asked for a smaller coke for my son and they charged still for 1/2 pint which was £3! For a tiny beaker of coke! The prices on the receipt didn’t match the menu for the roast so that was confusing too. I thought paying nearly £100 for a one course meal and 1 drink each for 3 adults and 1 child meal was pretty steep but maybe it was because of where we were just outside the Lake District.

Horse and Farrier Inn – KeswickWe had a lovely time at the Horse and Farrier. The staff were intentive to our needs, and we really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Even when the pub got busy you could see how hard the staff were working, to make everyone's experience enjoyable. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to work in a restaurants and how exhausting it can be for the staff to work in these conditions. The owner and manager should be really proud of their team. You could see the younger members of the team being guided by the experienced staff and a real family dynamic was being created. This pub has a great future, its is a gem worth visiting to feel apart of their special family. In this day and age that in its self is worth its weight in gold. See you all soon. Take care.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe have been coming to the Horse and Farrier for many years on our visits to the Lakes. It had been our go to pub for a lovely Sunday lunch. However, sadly we will not be returning. We invited friends to join us on Sunday for a roast. Since changing hands the standard has gone down hill. On Sunday the food was at best average and the service was bad. Our main courses were brought in 2 shifts so we didn’t eat all together and we had to keep asking for items that had been forgotten.. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were hard and the pavlova for pudding was majorly over baked. The serving staff were unprofessional and overfamiliar. For the price we expected a lot better. Sadly I won’t be recommending it to anyone.
