The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWent for lunch at the Wheatsheaf, on the 6/6, it is a few years since our last visit, was pleasantly surprised by the alterations. All the staff were pleasant, chatty etc.., fantastic selection on the menu, which was well received by us all. Would recommend a visit to anyone, Cumbrian Way bitter, beautiful, as good as the food.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalWow, What a good pub with excellent food. My wife and I had the mince plate pie which was fabulous. Our other gusts had a curry and chicken and thoroughly enjoyed both. We were staying at the nearby Caravan and Motorhome Club site and if we had been staying longer we would have come back to The Greyhound. Excellent value for money.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleFabulous food, waiting staff are brilliant, really enjoyed the experience of dining/ staying here
Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – RydalLovely meal, nice atmosphere, friendly staff all in a beautiful setting.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFirst visit there in some time and was shocked at the difference. I should have realised when we were the only ones in on a Friday lunchtime that it was going to be disappointing. The food was a big let down and the pub was cold. The wine was the only bright spot. I shan’t bother making the trip again. Wish I’d read the reviews first.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalWe wanted a traditional pub meal rather than going to chain pub, we found the Greyhound on line. Easy to book, food was good value with good portions (couldn’t manage desert!) Really friendly staff who were happy to have a natter with us. Definitely recommend and we’ll be back.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleFood was great, really quick service. Staff were all very friendly and efficient.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleFirst time visit whilst on holiday. The staff were brilliant: a warm welcome when we arrived and good service throughout. A good short menu made it easy to select the sharing nacho plate to start and salmon and a steak ciabatta. All were cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and most importantly very tasty. When we are back in the Lakes, The Wheatsheaf will be a “go to” place to eat a value for money lunch.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeThe many times we have been here it never disappoints great food great service always a lovely atmosphere
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleLovely meal, as always. Pleasant, attentive staff. Timely service. Have always been happy with our eating experiences here.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFood and service excellent
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFillet steak was excessively fat and gristly. The “new” potatoes with the fish were not only “skin on” but were riddled with eyes. These should never have been served. The so called pan fried scallops were no more than one scallop cut into three layers. The ambience was acceptable (although the table near the entrance door on a cool and windy Saturday evening was not the best despite having been booked weeks in advance) until the loudest party of 8 arrived making normal conversation impossible. Although not within the direct control of management it is still a wonder why a man needs to shout past 5 diners in his party to explain the dangers in swimming in parts of the Bahamas. Although our server prompted comment as to our dissatisfaction there was no response.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGreat food and atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I thought it excellent value for money.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe always visit The Pheasant for a meal when we are in Keswick. The staff are always very pleasant and the food is good. Yes, you sometimes have to wait a little while but meals are freshly prepared and worth waiting for.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickOur third visit to Lewis Bistro and it did not disappoint. Starters all fabulous and the main courses were to die for. Staff are amazing and go out of their way to accommodate as had wheelchair user and large dog in our party. Perfect restaurant in centre of Grasmere!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent food, nice atmosphere, would definitely go again. Think they could have done with an extra staff member but they were really friendly and helpful.
