The Wheatsheaf came recommended by my Sister-in-Law and our experience did not disappoint. We ate a good Sunday Lunch of roast beef, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables and huge Yorkshire puds and a good gravy. For dessert we ate Apple and Cinnamon crumble with custard. The custard was perfect, a really nice consistency, custard can make or brake a good crumble. The atmosphere was calm, very pleasant and above all friendly, lovely to see many dog owners being able to bring their faithful hounds with them. Highly recommend this delightful 17th century former coaching inn with really decent Cumbrian hospitality!

Lovely evening with excellent service as usual

Visited here on a few occasions, this visit did not disappoint. Sister and I very happy with our meals and desserts. Will be back.

Excellent food. Great service. Only issue was being sat in back room near kitchen. On a warm night this was not the room to sit in for a meal. Ended up going outside to dine as couldn’t cope with the heat.

Visited Mezzaluna 30th July, this is our go to Italian, food fabulous great service and ambiance, also very reasonably priced.

A great little Italian in Carlisle City Centre. Great food, great wine, great service all at a very reasonable price. We are regulars as its always good

Finally got booked in missed out last visit Service and food very good not disappointed at all.

Brilliant place for date night. The food was amazing, the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was really pleasant. Had the lamb and the duck and both were cooked to perfection. Dessert was also great. Honestly a great place. Thank you!

5 of us ate I the evening and all enjoyed our meal, good portions went down well after a day walking. Very busy and restaurant space is tight you need to book. Vegetables and side orders were lovely. Helpful staff.

Good location - close to the city's main bars. Booked table online without any issues. Food was lovely, service was great and prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely excellent food. The fish was beautifully cooked and the beef - amazing! Such great value for money and not only a good beer list but a good wine list too. Great to see families, couples and groups in here with great service too.

Warm, friendly and very professional staff, lovely atmosphere, great beers and wines and, of course, a superb choice of fabulous food. First class service all round.

We have eaten here three times in the last few weeks. Each time we have had excellent food, very well prepared and beautifully served, by attentive and sharp staff. We will become regulars in due course, because for us, the standard of food and service cannot be beaten in this area. I have no hesitation recommending Grants for delicious food that will go down well.

Despite the pub's rather shabby appearance and slightly crammed together seating, we were delighted with the food. All four of us chose the fish pie - really tasty, lots of fish, with a good selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. Although very busy, we didn't have a long wait for our meals, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return to The Pheasant.

My family and I visited the pub for the first time last year, I had the venison bourgignon. It came with seasonal vegetables and I chose the double cooked chips. It was, hands down, the best restaurant food I had ever tasted. So, you can imagine my surprise and ultimate elation when I returned to the pub with my family again to find that the venison was still on the menu! My family also thoroughly enjoyed their meals too. I was so pleased to find that the food still tasted just as it had the first time I had it, and although the staff had changed, the new staff were just as friendly and their service was first class. I really must take my hat off to the chef. The best restaurant food I have eaten. (Again!) I would thoroughly recommend eating there to anyone. Well done.
