We had a family meal at Grants for my daughter’s 18th birthday. A bit of a treat. We all tasted a little of each other’s meals. Best steak ever- well worth the price. The lamb was amazing, so tender too. I had to have the trio of seafood as a starter again, I ordered it last time we were here and couldn’t resist having it again, delicious. Recommended.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely friendly village pub, warm and welcoming. Lots of choices on the menu and reasonably priced. Also dog friendly, a real bonus for us, as we were passing through on route to Scotland. As I had had dental surgery the day previously and needed something soft to eat - the chef cooked me mince, mash and veg ( not on the menu, that night) Absolutely delicious and very much appreciated. Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleWe dined on a Saturday afternoon, lovely decor and ambience, staff helpful, friendly and attentive, great drink choices, lovely menu, prices reasonable, portion sizes good for tapas . We booked table online, toilets clean and tidy, no rush for us to vacate table. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe booked a table for Sat 6th Sept at 7.20pm upon arrival was taken to table had to ask for it to be cleaned were eventually given menus then sat waited after 10 minutes my husband went the bar to ask if we had to order at the bar and was told “there will be a delay of 30-40 minutes”! Why did they not say that when we arrived we left. The establishment also has rooms I dread to think what breakfast service is like. It was shambolic and poorly run a Saturday night and the only 3 draft beers they had were sold out! Will not revisit or recommend.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsWent to this fabulous restaurant with my mum,husband and mother in-law for her birthday. Have been before and I was not disappointed all the staff were lovely from the moment we arrived till the moment we left couldn't do enough for us and really made us laugh. What a great night will definately come back again.

The food was again outstanding and professionally presented. We had four starters and four main courses. No room for dessert. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, the service perfect. We recommend to locals and holidaymakers alike.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had Sunday lunch on a very busy summer Sunday. Staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful, despite us being delayed by problems finding a parking space. The main course took quite a time to arrive, but understandably when freshly cooking from scratch a wide selection of fresh vegetables as well as Yorkshire puds and a veggie wellington. We wouldn't hesitate to go again if nearby.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickEvery time we are in the Lakes we go for dinner at the Horse and Farrier. It’s an exceptional establishment. The food is excellent, creative dishes that celebrate seasonal ingredients and always cooked perfectly. The staff are brilliant very attentive and friendly. The pints are also great. It’s well priced so we’ve always walked away as happy customers. 10/10
