As ever, reliable with very friendly, but discrete, service. Yes, it is a pub, but the food is restaurant quality and two of the starters were stand-out - the spiced parsnip fritters and the black pudding bonbons.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely attentive staff but so disappointed with the poor quality of the food this time Onion rings were inedible . Huge ,all batter with a tiny amount of onion . Roast beef in the soggy sandwich was stringy Noisy barking dogs on the next table eventually taken out Won't be returning

Sage and Vine – CarlisleLovely busy pub but found room for our dogs and pushchair . Great food very friendly staff and roaring fire on a rainy night it was just what we wanted
Pheasant Inn – KeswickStarter course was returned to the kitchen. Pigeon was significantly over cooked. Main course halibut was over cooked and dry: possibly linked to the delay due to returning the starters
