Really lovely food. Well presented, fantastic combination of flavours. The restaurant looks quite unprepossessing from the outside, but was a real revelation inside! Would recommend to anyone who really loves food.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAlways excellent. Chef to be congratulated. Menu is always inventive and not run of the mill. Best fish and chips ever.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe booked to go to Lewis's for the 2 night's that my husband and I were staying in Grassmere. Food was excellent, staff were very efficient and welcoming. No complaints at all. Tip - top We'll definitely be booking on our next visit.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFantastic meal and excellent value. Girls who served us were lovely, although we felt the service could have been a bit more personal. Perfectly polite but we felt a bit "processed"
Horse and Farrier – PenrithLovely atmosphere. Super service. Fabulous food. Just a great place to be.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleThe Sage and Vine was the perfect place for lunch after a trip on the Settle to Carlisle Line. Everything was beautifuuly presented, the service was efficient and friendly and the food delicious. We couldn't have asked for anything better!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleDined as a family of four. Not been for a while, food was lovely, staff very helpful. Always a great experience
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAte dinner here 2 nights in a row whilst holidaying nearby. The food was delicious and plentiful (highly recommend the venison and the duck). You don’t come away hungry. The servers are all friendly, helpful and efficient despite it being so busy. We ate in the dog friendly area which was great as we were holidaying with our Labradors. Highly recommend.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickCosy, friendly restaurant with good choice of menu and efficient service. Chef did excellent job given that the kitchen is very compact!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were visiting the Lake District for a few days and staying in Penrith. We went here for dinner on our second night and we was not disappointed. It was a Sunday evening so wasn’t very busy but we still got a warm welcome from the staff and owner. I asked the waitress for recommendations as I couldn’t choose from all the great options. She recommended the soufflé for starter and lamb for main and that is what I went with. My husband had the fish starter and the duck for main. The food was absolutely amazing and the portions were really good too. We also got some lovely bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start. I had the rhubarb and ginger crumble for dessert. Amazing! The waitress came over and chatted with us quite a bit asking where we had visited and where we had eaten etc. she gave us some ideas for where to go. It was a lovely evening and would highly recommend.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithI have never posted a review before but felt compelled to do so this time. I had a meal at the Pheasant Inn last Saturday with my wife and cousin. While my meal was ok the other 2 meals were appalling. Two of us had an ok starter but the main course did not arrive until about one and a half hours after we sat down, this being after 2 reminders to waiters and after other customers who arrived after us were served. The meals looked as if they may have been fogotten about and kept warm. The vegetables on my wife's plate were burnt, for which we had a £10 refund, while the steak my cousin had was thin dry and tasteless. We had had 3 other meals in the Lake District last week 2 of which were very good and one excellent. For about £140 including drinks I think the food and service were very poor and I wouldn't eat at the Pheasant Inn again even if it was free. The beer however was very good.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe really enjoyed our time at The Pheasant yesterday. There was a really good atmosphere - it's clearly popular as it was full. The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door and service was seamless. The food was really very good and there was a really good choice on the menu. If we return to the area in the future, we would definitely eat there again.
