The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe have eaten at Lewis's a number of times when we've stayed in beautiful Grasmere. Every time the food is exceptional and this most recent time (Feb24) was no exception. The food was perfectly cooked, piping hot and delicious. We will definitely be back again.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur first visit to this restaurant. We were the first to arrive for dinner but gradually other diners arrived and the atmosphere was very good. A warm welcome and we were well looked after. Our meal and wine order was taken and we did not have to wait long for our starters. Unfortunately my wife found the French Onion soup did not taste right and we raised the issue with the staff. They checked with the kitchen and were very apologetic when they agreed there was an issue and it was removed from the menu. An unfortunate ting to happen but was dealt with efficiently. The rest of our meal was excellent and overall we enjoyed our evening.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent menu choice and options of smaller portions is great idea. Food and service were both excellent
Pheasant Inn – KeswickA wonderful pub with a great menu and marvellous service !
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe had lunch at Badger Bar, the food was fabulous. We visit here every year and always enjoy the food. One of our favourite places.
Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – RydalFood was really nice and came out the kitchen relatively quickly. One of my favourite Italian restaurants.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleFirst visit, which won't be out last. Very friendly and homely village pub. We received a warm welcome from the locals and the lovely barmaid, who was good crack. Food was tasty, honest and down to earth, very good value too, makes you wish you lived in the village, having a local like this. It was a wet Saturday tea time, and great to see a warming cozy fire. Hopefully we will be back soon.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleThe food was great! The staff were lovely. The starters were full of flavour and had a good amount to them. The Thai chilli sauce had a good balance of sweetness and spiciness. The mains were thoroughly enjoyed by all for both the English pub mains and Thai food. The only downside we had was a very rowdy group of people who fortunately left part way through the meal
Kings Arms – UlverstonThe whole place is cosy and warm; both with warm fires in snuggy rooms and the staff who welcome and served us. We both had the pie of the day which was incredible- packed full of slow cooked beef and gravy in a pastry casing. The veg was perfectly cook and chips/mash were moreish!! Wish we were staying for more than one night as the fish and chips and burgers looked good too!!
Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – RydalTbh I picked this pub on their nice website photos but we were really glad we did. Both the food and service were both brilliant. Deep fried gherkins were legendary. We'll be back.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeAnother lovely meal in this cosy pub, delicious steak pie, veg and chips all round!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickI had high hopes for Lewis’s Bistro but was unfortunately let down particularly by the service I received. Upon arriving everything seemed fine I was shown to my table. My starter and main course came out right but once I had finished my main course they took ages to clear it away! when they eventually did I asked for a dessert menu. Got given my dessert menu and they left me to decide. Once I had decided I was left sat there waiting for ages again with the menu in front of me waiting for them to take my order! While other diners were being served efficiently. In the end I went up to the counter to order my dessert only to be told this wasn’t possible because they needed my table for another booking. So I was forced to pay there and then! Very disappointing. I understand you might want to put time restrictions on tables during busy times but it’s then down to you to make sure your customers get served quickly during that time and that they can enjoy 3 courses if they want too. I suppose in the end I got a smaller bill by not having a dessert and you guys missed out on more money! So guess who got the last laugh! I sure won’t be returning anyway x
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFriendly staff, good food
Pheasant Inn – KeswickBeen here several times for food and never disappointed.great food .nice pub and friendly staff ..will be back again .
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe had vegetarian food and it was delicious. We'd definitely go there again, and take other people. Very friendly service. Only downside is that my partner was disappointed that there weren't more traditional British beers.
