Perfect as a walkable local while we were on holiday nearby. Delicious belly pork starters. Sunday roast pretty good- great potatoes! Would have liked a bit more green veg. Friendly service. Good beer.

Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithDisappointed. Booked for a Sunday roast. Menu states chicken, beef and pork offered. When we arrived, we were told there was no beef left and chicken wasn’t even an option. Reluctantly stayed (it was after 6pm and we couldn’t get a table anywhere else). One of us ordered the burger, which cost £15 and was literally a burger, some cheese a bun and a few fries. No lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Service was also poor. No one asked us if we wanted any sauces, or checked if our food was okay. It’s a shame - this is our local and we used to visit regularly. I’d like to say this is the first time this has happened. But unfortunately it has gone downhill in recent months.
General Burgoyne – UlverstonExcellent Service Staff very polite, efficient & helpful.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeHelpful, good staff, good menu, reasonable wait for fresh homemade, not overpriced. Will be back
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWonderful meal. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere. Staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleHad dinner at Lewis’s on Saturday night, booked a dog friendly table and had an absolutely lovely evening. Food was excellent and a great selection of wines, very well priced. Will definitely visit again.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had 2 lovely meals in a nice setting, we tried booking again on our 4th night but it was fully booked. The service was first class.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWhat a find, dinner with my daughter was delightful. Delicious food, beautifully presented and served by lovely staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and I can confidently recommend this restaurant - too good to miss!!!
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithExcellent food and friendly efficient staff
Goody Blake’s – GrasmereFantastic food and service. The menus was excellent and catered very well for gluten free. Wine was amazing and over all a wonderful meal.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereMy partner’s beef was outstanding and my cod loin was spot on . The stew that came with my meal was slightly dull and while my wok fried prawns were tasty they were not out of this world good. The staff were very good and the atmosphere nice. Tables too close together. All in all a pleasant meal out but rather pricey for what you get
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent meal and service. Friendly staff made the evening v enjoyable.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleGreat food and first class service will be back soon
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAs always, a beautiful meal in cosy surroundings, friendly staff and great value for money. We always make a point of visiting the Pheasant Inn whenever we are in the Lakes.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickService is always fantastic! They made it extra special for our friends birthday. The food is always so lovely at such a good price!
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleOver the past few years, when in Keswick, we have always looked forward to our meal at the Pheasant. This year however, for the first time, we were disappointed. We all selected the meat pie as it has always been outstanding. This year there were no options regarding the sIze and the price was considerably more than we had experienced. The quality of the pastry was poor and the cost of our meal, always being the most competitive in the past was greatly increased. I know there have been huge increases in food prices but compared to other establishments that we visited, we felt that the Pheasant had failed to match up.The service from the lady who served us was excellent but despite this I don’t think we will visiting the Pheasant in the future, which is a great shame
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWhat a wonderful friendly village pub. Nice to find a true Village pub with such a welcoming atmospher. Food was plentiful and really excellent too.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleWe made two visits in a week to the Pheasant Inn in Keswick and we were not disappointed either time. The first was for Sunday lunch. We booked online very easily and when we arrived we got a lovely warm welcome and were seated straight away. It didn't take long for the food to reach us even though they were quite busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful which created a great atmosphere. The food was wonderful (chicken and leek pie with chips and a huge perfectly cooked roast beef dinner) especially the creamed leeks and red cabbage. I have to say that it was the best Yorkshire pudding I've ever had in a pub restaurant. The next visit on the Thursday was just as welcoming though it was a lot busier. The food was perfect again (Cumberland sausage with mash and salmon on crushed new potatoes). It was very hard to choose as it was a very interesting and varied menu and all sounded delicious. We will definitely be back.
