Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFamily enjoyed a lovely meal here. Service warm and friendly, nice feel to restaurant. All greatly enjoyed our food. Pork belly was superb, good portions and flavours brill.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent service and excellent food! Recommend! The only negative is that the restaurant was cold. Another diner commented on this too.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereAbsolutely top class evening, will definitely be back again soon.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleVisited the pub/restaurant for a family Sunday lunch. The pub is a lovely quaint old building and the interior warm and welcoming. Friendly, efficient staff. The food was delicious - my wife and I both had the vegetarian Sunday lunch which was amazing, others in our party had the standard roast and also enjoyed it. We will visit again - the prices were reasonable too.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithLast night, we had the most delicious meal. What value for money with such amazing, homemade food. The service was excellent and they catered for us, as a dog friendly family, beautifully. Would highly recommend to families, couples, groups and dog friendly families. It was just fab-u- lous!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe went to Lewis’s bistro for dinner on the 24th of October. The food was generally good and the portions were a good size, but there was a lack of attention to detail that spoiled it a little - a length of string left on my partner’s pork belly and lots of bristles left on mine. My partner mentioned the string to a member of staff but she was completely disinterested. Wine was overpriced and not particularly well kept but a decent selection. Service was very prompt, too much so in fact, we had finished starter and main within around 45 minutes of sitting down and were asked immediately if we’d like dessert. Had they waited a while longer, we might have fancied something. The other issue we had was that the tables either side of us went while we were eating and, rather than waiting until the section was clear, they started spraying and wiping down the tables while we were finishing off our mains - quite off-putting to be honest, and unnecessary since there no other sittings arrived. Could have been great and hopefully they will take the comments on board!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereSo nice to find village pub that hasn’t tried to transform itself , excellent food especially the best onion rings , definitely recommend
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithFriendly welcoming team. Great service and lovely food! Thank you
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAbsolutely love this place. The food is always exceptional, the meat pie this Friday was no exception. Really delicious.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeSunday lunch. Choice of beef or roasted celeriac. The beef is sirloin thick cut slices, perfectly cooked and best quality, served with a real Yorkshire pud and real gravy. Only the congenitally greedy would ask for more. Generous servings of veg, family style. Roasties, carrot, hispi, cauliflower in a cheesy mustardy sauce. Followed up with pudding; proper apple crumble, real egg custard. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and family with great big tables and a roaring wood-burner in the corner. Lovely staff, clearly busy but always charming and cheerful. Fab, like a great-big hug of the best of half-forgotton Sundays past.
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsBeen before and food was of the same high standard but felt short changed as only had one very small piece of beef - would have expected at least twice as much. There were some very loud children nearby but can’t blame the cafe for the lack of parenting skills shown
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsHad the most beautiful tasting Sunday lunch at the Pheasant Inn. Everything about our visit was brilliant,... the food, the drinks and the service received. Will be going back in a couple of days to try something different. Fantastic.
