Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereUnfortunately not as good as our springtime visit. The main man behind the bar was missing, don't know whether he's left, but he was an extremely good host. I'd ordered the ham Sunday roast but the meat was dry. I was given another piece when I complained which was tender and tasty. We tried to order desserts by attracting the staff but the menu wasn't forthcoming. A gentleman from another table also asked on our behalf. Eventually we ordered and the steam pudding and custard was good. I'd recommended the place last time to friends but I probably won't this time.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeLovely Sunday roast
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely food and friendly staff, but very, very rushed. We were in the restaurant for less than an hour (just had 2 courses). They wanted us to order within 2 minutes of sitting down, had to ask if we could order a drink first, and even then the waitress was back at our table in less than 5 minutes for our food order. As I said, food was nice and staff friendly enough, just made us feel rushed and I have to say, unwelcome. Will try elsewhere next time.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWonderful food & fabulous service
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithHad a scrummy meal on Saturday. There were 5 of us in the party and we all had something different. I had the Venison , it was so tender. Fab service, lovely wine and delicious food. Definitely go back again.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe had a fantastic Sunday lunch, plenty of meat and well cooked vegetables, although it was very busy the staff were welcoming, and the food served quickly and on hot plates.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleOur group had meals Friday Saturday and Sunday at this lovely pub and each night and food was excellent. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithGreat service - lovely food, boiling hot and well cooked. Staff were friendly if a little overworked as they said they were short staffed. Still didn’t stop good service and prompt attention. Meals were good value and plenty to eat.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAmazing food and beautiful atmosphere, would highly recommend, will be back again soon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleThe food, service and value for money were great! Thank you for a great meal and evening
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe Pheasant Inn is our favourite place to eat, food is great, staff and service is excellent, and a great pint of Guinness! Thank you x
Pheasant Inn – KeswickOur second visit and equally as good as the first one. Service excellent, food fantastic, great wine and a lovely ambience. Can't recommend highly enough!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereVery disappointing experience indeed. The dinner was of poor quality. I chose the haggis and was served with a small mound of mashed vegetables topped with some greasy and tasteless minced beef. There were no fresh vegetables to accompany this offering which cost nearly £14. My partner had the fish and chips and was not impressed. The dessert was Affogato which is difficult to ruin but, again, was a miniscule portion, the espresso was only lukewarm and this cost over £6. The staff were friendly and the service was good but, because of the poor quality of the food, we won't be returning.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeThis is our “go to” place for a meal. Lovely and efficient staff. Excellent food. Cannot fault our most recent visit. We’ll be back again soon
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleExcellent food. Beer spot on! Price good. Service was great.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAmazing, attentive and friendly service and incredible food. We both had the scallop starter and lamb main and both were delicious. We were very happy to have found this on our weekend away, would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends visiting or returning when we’re next in Grasmere.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were in Keswick for a week from 30th September and visited the Pheasant on both Tuesday (3rd October) and Friday (6th). Tuesday was absolutely fine, but Friday didn't go as well. We sat at our meal table and ordered drinks. It seemed though that these had been forgotten, so we had to remind another member of staff about them before they appeared. Another group close by ordered just before us, and after they had started eating a staff member noticed some time later that we hadn't received our meals and reassured us we would be next; it seemed like we had been forgotten. The main meals arrived, then the potatoes, but no veg! Another reminder had to be made to the staff and the veg were brought to us perhaps three or four minutes later. However, we did enjoy our evening and would go again on our next visit to Keswick.
