Had to book but well worth the wait. Lovely food and friendly, efficient staff. So nice to have some decent choices as a vegetarian instead of the usual standard offerings

Pheasant Inn – KeswickWhat a gem! Lovely food, cooked by an excellent chef. The menu is varied and staff are very friendly. Can’t fault it.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe visited The Greyhound during a short stay in Cotehill. We found a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The pub is dog friendly and when we arrived we were shown to a corner table as we asked to enable our Spaniel to lay quietly. The menu was typical Country Pub fare but pleasingly extensive with a good variety of meals to choose from. We would have no hesitation in returning.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleWe came here while on a week away in Carlisle and it was absolutely amazing! The service was brilliant and the food was excellent, such good value for money. So glad we picked here for a meal out, some of the nicest food we have ever eaten.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWe had a meal on Wednesday to celebrate my son’s graduation . Fantastic food , wonderful friendly staff . We all agreed the delicious food was the best we had ever had ! Real value for money too. As CAMRA members delighted with the ales too. A great place for a family celebration and we will be back even if we have nothing to celebrate!!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickAbsolutely beautiful as always staff are so welcoming and friendly just the right amount of service not on top of you but there if you need them can never find fault with the food they always get it just right
La Mezzaluna – Carlislemy husband and I really enjoyed our meal at Lewis's bistro. We are vegetarian and it is difficult to find decent dishes that are truly home cooked. We both had the chickpea ,vegetable and potato curry which was lovely and so nice to find a curry that isnt based on coconut milk and where the vegetables are perfectly cooked and not underdone! Staff friendly and efficient .Will definitely go back if we are visiting the area again. I would just point out that a lot of the tables are rather close together and the waitress was sitting us at one close to another couple even though there was another free table a little further away.It was only when we looked reluctant that she offered us the other table -we like a bit of privacy where possible !
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad a lovely meal the food is delicious and really attentive service will definitely be going back.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThis is my regular but I came with work to say goodbye to a colleague. Food amazing as usual and lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive and funny.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAn excellent meal - and a really good selection for those of us who have to go gluten free! It made such a change to have choice.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWhat a lovely evening we had at Mezzaluna, greeted and seated with fabulous service. Food was well presented and tasty. It was obviously home made authentic recipes. We loved our evening and would thoroughly recommend
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWe had a meal on Sunday evening for my 65th Birthday. Everything was just perfect, we both had the Lakeland Beef Pie, which the meat melted in your mouth. Everything was cooked beautifully and the staff were all very attentive to our every need. Will definitely be back when next in the area. Thank you Keith & Annette
Pheasant Inn – KeswickVery regular visitors. Amazing food as always, fabulous welcome and service was quick and spot on. Staff can’t do enough for you.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickHad Sunday lunch after reading reviews. Went for the roast, well you have to. Very busy but arrived promptly with a good selection of vegetables. The beef was lovely and well done so people liking it pink would be disappointed. It suited us perfectly. The veg was nice but the carrots were a bit underdone. I love mash but new potatoes instead, still good Very good value at £12.50. I have to mention the cutlery, the knives were VERY blunt so slicing the ample slices of beef proved a bit difficult, need replaced.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickA delicious meal, great service and really nice atmosphere. The vegetarian option, teriyaki, was especially good. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithVery nice evening. We’ll be back!
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeThe Pheasant Inn was recommended by our local host as where she and her family go for Sunday Roast. We were so happy to make a reservation and try our first Sunday Roast for this trip to the Lakes. The Inn is cozy and comfortable. We were disappointed to find out that one of the roast options and the Yorkshire Pudding were already sold out by the time we arrived but the Fish Pie was delicious. We would definitely try again next time we’re in town.
