The Pheasant is on the very edge of Keswick and I have overlooked it for years and this was my first visit with 3 family members. The food, ambience, service, and ales were all excellent. Before booking I read all the reviews which were excellent with the exception of the most recent review which seemed vindictive and had a ridiculous statement about the pheasant breasts really being pork chops. That didn’t put me off at all. I ordered the pheasant, was served a generous portion of pheasant breast in a rich sauce and it was delicious!

We had the Sunday roast here and it was amazing - great veggie option too. The cheesy leeks deserve their own mention as they were delicious. Did not complete - order a small so you can attempt a pudding! :) Staff were lovely and friendly too.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff and excellent food.

Excellent as always. Food and service great. Went twice while on a week stay at Haven, The hunters chicken best ever and the sea bass is to die for! Highly recommended. We will be visiting again.

Staff were incredibly friendly and the menu choice was great. Reasonably priced so close to Keswick centre. Food was good. The atmosphere was good however as it was 28 degrees outside the older building in the raised up bit of the pub was uncomfortably hot. Maybe invest in some fans.

The food was very good, with a nice variety of options you don’t often see on a typical pub menu — a real positive surprise. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by the service. Staff forgot to take our food order initially, didn’t bring cutlery, and seemed unsure about the dishes when they arrived — asking who ordered mash when both meals clearly came with chips (and no mash had been requested). The atmosphere in the restaurant also felt inappropriate for families. Some customers were walking around in bikinis in front of small children, and there were people at the bar shouting and being rude, with staff members joining in the behaviour instead of managing it. It’s a real shame, as the quality of the food shows potential, but the service and environment need significant improvement.

My wife and I had chosen a restaurant very carefully for celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in Grasmere and Lewis’ Bistro certainly didn’t disappoint. Great service, a naturally created great atmosphere and stunning food. We came away from happy indeed

It’s usually great in the Pheasant,been there several times,but last Sunday the 6th July was not a great dining experience.The food was poor quality,not up to the usual standard.The beef pie had very little meat in it,and was tasteless.The chips were rock hard and dry and had clearly been reheated . The service was non existent for at least 20 minutes despite the member of staff saying he would be “back in a minute” to take a drinks order. I will put it down to them being very busy,and leave it at that.

I cannot get enough of this garlic bread and the huge cobb salad - such fresh produce and so tasty. Service is professional and efficient and we were regularly asked if everything was ok which it was. Love the option of different beers and although not GF it was actually really nice anyway and more like the hoppy lager I like. There was also the option 0% freixenet prosecco. It was so quiet which was surprising as it was the perfect night to sit out but guess everyone was having BBQs.
