We arrived early and had coffee which was lovely the place inside ( function room was pretty . Coffe god at1pm we ordered a pie chips etc they had run out . So my brother ordered gougons . My sis and I had quiche and salad chips but they had run out of salad and the chips were for me unbeatable as there was some sort of seasoning which was very salty and not nice . I ate the quich but that wasn’t homemade the gougons were dry and again no salad so I would not go back . A shame as service and place were very good
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldA rather disappointing experience. Queue to the door, which I duly waited in (until spotting a server) as we had booked a table prior to arrival, taken to our reserved table to find someone else seated there. Given an alternative after a brief wait whilst she checked the seating plan. Lunch menu was very limited, gluten free even more so. No at table ordering so duly waited again to order drinks and meals, having negated my way through the waiting queue. Drinks were given and again I had to negate my way through the queue with a tray full of drinks in order to return to the table. Teas were luke warm at best and no extra hot water offered. The gluten free panini, turned out to be gluten free bread! Quiche was nice, however, the chips served, were again not very warm. Second round for coffees and cake, once more into the breach to join the queue, this time having to try to fight my way back to our table twice with trays laden with coffee and cake. Gluten free option had been labelled iincorrectly as carrot cake when it was in fact a caramel cake. On return to table I had to clear away our meal detritus in order to have room for our coffees and cakes. All in all, despite the beautiful surroundings and what could be made into an outstanding experience, very disappointed.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldPart way (the pretty way) stop for lunch after collecting a car from Derby to deliver to Marple. Not the first and hopefully not the last visit to “The Gate”. Superb friendly welcome (after arriving an hour before the lunch booking time - not a problem.) Food here is just so good, several steps up from the average pub “ping” food often encountered elsewhere. It is very tempting to fix a stay in Brassington for a few days working through The Gate menu whilst enjoying the magnificent countryside on offer in the area.
The Old Gate Inn – MatlockAnother fantastic meal and wonderful service. This place is a real gem ❤️
The Two Hares – GlossopLovely late lunch on a cold Saturday. Service friendly and effective. Food Lovely had the cheese burger which was delicious. Other half had steak which was cooked to order perfectly. Would recommend .
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonMy partner and I booked a table having viewed the online menu and wow, we weren't disappointed. Firstly it's a nice relaxed establishment, tastefully decorated with a comfortable seating area downstairs near the bar. Most of the tables for eating are upstairs,i'm glad to say the tables aren't squeezed in to maximise numbers. The service was friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful. Our food was exquisite, perfectly prepared and presented. Accompanied by a father nice bottle of Riocah. Sadly we don't live in Buxton, but this establishment and its staff are the single biggest reason my partner and I shall be returning in the nor too distant future.

Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonThank you for a lovely Easter Sunday breakfast which I had booked for our wedding anniversary . It was a special surprise to be greeted by the Easter bunny & chick & madhatter! The tables were set out beautifully with a lovely Easter theme & the food was delicious made extra special by the glass of Prosecco given to us to celebrate our anniversary! A lovely experience all round - thank you to all the staff that made it that way!
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldSo this was our second visit , and we brought our daughters. We decided on the roast and wow , we were not disappointed. The service was again amazing, the food was exceptional again . We would recommend this every time xxx
The Two Hares – GlossopAnnoyed at ourselves. We used to go regularly in Whaley. Then when they moved completely forgot they were in Buxton. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, superb cocktails and easily the best restaurant Sunday Roast you can get. Incredibly reasonable for the quality on show. Wasted 8 years not knowing they were in Buxton. So glad we are back!.
