Afternoon tea, 17.5.26 Firstly, on my online booking I requested to be seated at table 31. However, on arrival 3 people who were just having drinks were seated at the table and we were shown to a smaller table. If these 3 people had been having afternoon tea I could understand that but they were not, this was very disappointing. As for the food - the sweet elements were fine but the sandwiches were poor. The bread was very thick (with some crusts) and the fillings were inadequate for the thickness of the bread. When we requested that we would like to take away our uneaten cream scones we expected them to be taken away, boxed up and returned to us but I was just presented with an empty box to do it myself. Although in the main the cream tea was ok I was left disappointed by some elements of the food and service.

Had an absolutely delicious Sunday lunch here! I had the roast miso cauliflower and my husband had the beef - both were gorgeous, every single element was amazing . Super friendly and chatty service made us feel very welcome - I was surprised there were so few people, The Two Hares deserves to be packed out every day. We’ll definitely be back.

Wonderful relaxed dining atmosphere with excellent food and spot on service. Thoroughly enjoyed our early evening dining experience. We will definitely make an effort to call in again the next time we are in Buxton.

We went to Renishaw Hall to celebrate a lady’s 80th and had an amazing afternoon tea! The staff had been great before hand letting us add people the week before and decorated the table beautifully. All the staff wished the birthday girl a’happy birthday’ and were very attentive to us .The food was very tasty but filling so we all needed a doggie bag to bring any leftovers home. Highly recommend Renishaw Hall for food,atmosphere and staff! Thanks for making a 80 year old very happy !

Fully recommend a visit to the Old Gate Inn. We were a party of 7 inc 2 children booked in for Sunday Lunch which I booked online which was a very easy process. The staff made us feel at home with a warm welcome and the service provided was excellent. The Sunday Roasts were great and enjoyed by all as was our young grandson’s sausage and mash, oh and extra gravy served without having to ask. Would definitely visit again.

We all had the Chef's tasting menu, which was impressive quality and vwry interesting. As usual friendly and attentive service from Nadia!

Our group had a fantastic evening at Bailey’s last night. Really tasty steak and fish, great cocktails - but what really stands out was the fabulously warm and humourous waiter who looked after us , and the great atmosphere. We were lucky to be there when there was live music, and we really enjoyed having a good old singalong and even a dance. A great place.

We had a lovely lunchtime meal. The fish goujon roll was excellent. Really friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much that we went back again. The evening meal of salted cod with pak choi was really tasty. Highly recommend the Old Gate Inn.

Went for afternoon tea to celebrate mum’s 91st birthday. Staff very friendly and attentive throughout. The table had been beautifully decorated. Lovely food in lovely surroundings. Boxes provided to take away extras. The lit candle as we sang happy birthday was a nice touch. Thoroughly recommend.

Another lovely lunch at the cafe. Service excellent as usual and food was very tasty. Lovely place to visit. Always made to feel welcome. Would highly recommend

Very friendly greetings The table was layed out beautifully Had a nice cappuccino while waiting for our afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was delicious loved it but couldn't eat it all. Was given boxes to take the rest home. Staff went above and beyond brilliant service would definitely recommend Afternoon tea was fantastic
