Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamCelebrated my mother's 80th birthday with the family in the Antler bar. We all had the festive afternoon tea which was fantastic. The younger members of the family enjoyed the free pool table and darts. We had a great time and were well looked after. Thank you.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamWe've been dinning here for a few years now and have booked Christmas Eve for the last 2 yrs. Food is beautiful, staff are very friendly and attentive and it is excellently priced for the quality of food served. Always recommending to friends and family.

Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamAnother fab visit, fantastic food, great service, amazing prices cant wait to be back soon Thankyou
The Farmers Arms – DurhamWent here Tuesday night as a party of 7 with a baby, got seated very quickly, waiter came over after 20 minutes to take drink orders,,then couldn’t take our meal orders until they sorted another table first, after an hour and 15 minutes got our starter then another hour for our main, which was a turkey dinner with 1 sprout 1 roast potatoe and one parsnip and a spoonful of cabbage and turnip we didn’t even hang on for the dessert as it was very late for the baby to be out by then so paid the bill and left , definitely wouldn’t be returning again as it looks like they can’t manage the kitchen even though it wasn’t that busy .
The Farmers Arms – DurhamCame for the Christmas fayre menu. Seated promptly. Although supervisor who seated us didn’t engage at all when seating us. left 2 menus and walked off (bearing in mind there was 3 of us). Waited 25 mins to be offered a drink. We were also ready to order food at that point but the waitress said she would take our food order when she returned with the drinks. Service was very very slow from start to finish. Also weren’t offered any other condiments when food was served (ketchups & a vinegar sachet were already available on table) but no mayo, which I had to then wait another 7 minutes to ask for when the waitress returned with sweet potato fries that were missing from one of the dishes. We had no table check until we were finished mains. On the plus side, food was very nice. Service side let the restaurant down.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamI booked at table for 9 for 5pm…. When we arrived staff showed us to our table… We were then greeted by a gentleman who wanted to take our food order ASAP…. When I asked if we could have a few drinks before we decided I was told that the kitchen shuts at 5…. If I knew this before I booked I would have book for 4pm…. But that aside, we all enjoyed the food, the service was great and the staff very friendly and helpful
The Farmers Arms – DurhamA great venue and service first class, the turkey was delicious but the rest let it down. Cold and over cooked
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamFood was lovely but the service was very poor. There were a lot of staff but they seemed disinterested and didn’t check in us. They appeared to be busy wandering around but not checking on tables. We had to queue for ages at the bar to be directed to our reserved table. We then had to ask them to come to the table each time we needed something. The drinks order took ages to arrive, the food was lovely once it did arrive but one of the dishes was incorrect. We weren’t even offered desserts, and when our bill arrived it was incorrect. The second attempt at the bill was also incorrect. Despite the nice food we would not visit here again due to the terrible service. The table and menus were also not very clean and it had been a reserved table. The staff seemed disinterested and the majority weren’t very polite either. All in all a very disappointing experience ☹️
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamWe went for Sunday Lunch. Three courses for £20. Very good value for money. Delicious prawn cocktail, silverside roast beef and crumble with custard. All tasted great and was obviously all made from scratch. No frozen microwave stuff here. Will defiantly go again
The Farmers Arms – DurhamThe menu was extremely limited considering it was the week before Christmas, no festive selection available. Food looked good, but unfortunately it was cool when it came out. Not value for money . With the combined experience with breakfast. No vegetarian sausages available despite being advertised on menu. Once again the food was lukewarm. This being the case we would not book this hotel again.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleAbsolutely loved our visit here! Good was amazing! Especially the profiteroles!! They are home made and are huge! I went for my birthday and had the best time so thankyou very much Farmhouse! Staff were amazing too! The whole place is gorgeous and really cosy to be in, prices are very fair, the happy hour deals are a proper bargain for the quality of food you get as well. To top of it off they have my favourite gin - Boe Violet which not many places do!! Thanks again Farmhouse! Im sure we'll be back again :)
