We generally visit mid-week for lunch and have not been disappointed! The staff are always pleasant, the food is well presented and the beer is well kept - always happy to return.

Fab little place to eat, small but perfectly formed. Food is cooked fresh, with good variety (including vegan and gluten free) and reasonably priced. No draft beers, but a good choice of alcohol and cocktails. Service is great and very friendly.

Very disappointing, poor value for money. Staff were friendly and hlepful, but quite frankly the food was very poor. None of meat dishes matched the description, and had any flavour. Yakatori Chicken- suggest looking up on internet what this should be- never seen/tasted anything so poor, Adobo pork belly bites with a mango habanero glaze- no flavour at all(honestly felt like they forgot to glaze at all). Gochujang Ribs- C peanut BBQ baby back riblets with a peanut crumb(no flavour of Gochujang). Bonito Slaw ( va)-served in ramekin, tasted awful. They may have had an off night-wont be returning. If you want decent flavours-Suggest Uglybird instead.

We had a brilliant time. The food was great. The drinks were absolutely class. We will be back. We had about 8 dishes between 2 of us and that was plenty. Excellent service.

My wife and I took our daughter and future son in law for a lunchtime meal at the Chequers. We were greeted and taken to our table by a very friendly lady. Lovely choice of food on menu. Food was lovely, plenty of it and also hot (very important to us). Good value for money. Would definitely go again when in the area. The only downside is that there is not a lot of parking space.

I wasn't going to write a review (only doing so because I've been emailed asking for one) Food was pretty good except a few things, but with so much selection it's inevitable (couldnt put my teeth through the Naan bread. Kind of expected where it was in a hotplate) What really killed it for me was with it being so hot the back doors were open. People were smoking out the back and it was wofting through the restaurant. I don't smoke so find it disgusting. Also had my children with me, one being a 6 month old, so don't expect to be eating while smelling that. I also didn't like the way the helicopter manager (taking an assumption here) continually spoke to a member of staff. Moaning at him for ordering rice to be cooked amongst other things. I went to go out of a door which said exit and this 'manager' was insistent i went through another door because i had a pram. I wanted to leave the same way with the party of 7 I was with (this door lead to another door for the lift) When i was in the lift, the 'manager' followed me and my daughters in and asked how we found everything. I wasn't going to say anything but brung it to his attention about the smell of cigarette (again, wasnt going to say anything, only did because he followed us and asked). Parking isn't free, although advertised. Everything else was great otherwise. The people replenishing food were doing a great job. The people clearing plates were friendly and attentive. Refill drinks are a great idea. We all enjoyed ourselves other than the few issues stated. Was a great for my 5 year old to try a variety off different foods she wouldn't have otherwise.

This was our second time booking a Sunday carvery at the master builder. We enjoyed it só much the first time we knew we wanted to come back back again and it did not disappoint. Staff are really friendly, the system is super simple, you pay at the till pick up your Sunday roast, the meats are fresh, the veggies are plentiful and the gravy is delicious. It was a great atmosphere and clearly lots and lots of locals coming and enjoying this every week.
