The Toby Carvery – SouthamptonWe thoroughly enjoyed our meal Friday lunchtime. Nice meal, pleasant atmosphere and no loud music. A member of staff, Vicky, took our booking for Sunday 17th April and she made us very welcome. My friend drove us to the Swan and joined us for the meal. She enjoyed her meal so she offered to put leaflets through doors where she lives in the Portsmouth area. We will certainly be going to the Swan again
The Swan – HavantGo somewhere else We booked for a Sunday lunch/birthday celebration. Undoubtedly the worst dining experience we've ever had: One of the two draught beers had run out No lamb (at 1.30pm) One starter missed Table too small for party, despite advance booking Most food passable, but roast chicken dried out and tasteless, vegetables poor Huge wait between courses, 30 minute wait for dessert menu, complained - order taken and dessert still not served, asked for bill after further 30mins and desserts hadn't even been been started. Far too expensive for the menu. Service absolutely dreadful, not the staff's fault - poor management and just not enough staff. We had two drinks in the 2.5 hours we were there for the two courses we got, staff don't come around often enough to take orders. Seriously, go somewhere else. Do not give the Bridge at Shawford your patronage.
The Bridge – Winchestervery poor lunch, my companions mushroom risotto was not fresh, seemed warmed up and my "organic white bread" ham sandwich was a piece of square supermarket ham between two slices of thick sliced loaf
The Sun Inn Dummer – BasingstokeMarie-Louise & Andres have brought a London Eating House to rural Hampshire, without the City prices. The menu changes daily, and Andres's Catalan origin is evident in the cooking. Every meal that I have had there has impressed me. The wine list is one of the best that I have come across, I believe that Marie-Lou was a wine professional which shows in her choice of wines. Try the MAN Pinotage or Iona Sauvignon Blanc which are among our favorites. Their Bib Gourmand entry in the 2011 Michelin Guide is well deserved.
Purefoy Arms – BasingstokeThe chefs ego far outways his ability to cook food.Ordered the seabass in lime & coconut sauce. So bitter I could not distinguish fish from sauce. On complaining,we were met with hostility & derision. Avoid at all costs.
The Black Swan – AndoverGreat gastronomic experience. Not just your everyday country pub. The menu is highly unique with the influence of the Spanish chef the food displays a very clever mix of local traditional food with a Spanish twist. The wine list too is not to be ignored. Really worth a visit. A worthy winner of the Bib Gourmand award 11
Purefoy Arms – BasingstokeWow great place and people you could not wish for a better Indian restaurant and I have not even mentioned the food yet.... that is great no matter what you order. Can highly recommend.
Naz’s Cuisine – RomseyFantastic, extensive menu, superb quality, sensible prices and nice staff. This has to have been the best Indian meal I have had in the last twenty years, and probably the best value for quality. Parking is a pain, being situated on a bend but worth the walk. This restaurant could give some of the best in the country ‘a run for their money’, especially for the flavour and quality of the food.
Rivaaz – New MiltonI was taken for a brilliant meal this weekend for my birthday at the Delightful. Great as always, first time we have eaten in, usual have a take away prawn curry and sweet and sour prawns in batter. Cannot fault them. Great service with great food, and a smile thrown in
Delightful Cantonese Restaurant – Hayling IslandI had a very bad experience eating here, the food was undercooked and over-spiced. When the second effort arrived it was burnt. The staff were rude and aggressive or slimy and over familiar. The prices were high and the menu was unimaginative. Parking is inadequate and they confuse "atmosphere" with "noisy"
Alfresco – FleetIf your in Fourmarks or Alton and you fancy a curry this is the place to go. We visited on the Monday and Wednesday while staying nearby and started with chicken tikka. Breast meat marinated and cooked perfectly. (why do they feel the need to use colour enhancer). Next chicken madras, lots of breast meat again in a lovely gravy that wasn't overly hot, mushroom pilau rice , bombay potato's and garlic nan breads (really nice ) meal deal available mon and wed. starter, main, side, rice or nan £12.95 or include a drink for £15.50. Friendly and polite staff who recognised us from the Monday and offered two drinks on the house. Will be going back when in the area.
The Saffron – Altonfantastic restaurant, lovely food and fab prices, tonight was my 2nd visit and i am now considering having this restaurant for my wedding reception in may 2011 .
Elias Restaurant – SouthamptonWe would recommend Truffles for its superb dining experience
Truffles Restaurant Francais – FarehamThe food is great and now they have a website which means i can look and choose before i buy :)
Sam’s Chippy – HavantTerrible, avoid at all costs
The Portsmouth Arms – BasingstokeI would definitely recommend the Red Lion as the service and food is superb and the owners are very helpful and professional..In the autumn/winter there is a cosy fire
Red Lion (Southwick) – FarehamMy wife Chris and I went to the Winchester restaurant on Monday 23.08.2010 to celebrate her birthday. On entering the venue we thought the appearance was excellent -minimalistic but stylish. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff and served without delay. No pressure was made with drinks but we chose a couple of small Cobra beers to put us in the mood while we chose from the extensive menu. We eventually settled for Vegetable Pakora for Chris's starter and Goan Style Beef for mine and clay oven Grilled Chicken With Black Beans for Chris's main course and Tandor Roasted Rack Of Lamb for mine with a side order of spiced chickpeas and saffron rice to share. Well, we were absolutely captivated and thrilled by the food. We had tasters of each other's choices and thought everything was just excellent. Spicy yet not too hot and all the meat was perfectly cooked - tender and succulent. The only sadness was finishing the meal(although we were certainly satisfied by the portions). It's our 16th Wedding Anniversary next month and guess where we are planning to celebrate?? Right first time! Many thanks to the manager and staff for a terrific evening.
