Very disappointing! We have lived in Lancaster for a while now, and we're looking forward to visiting. The place looks very impressive with it being an old Methodist church. When entering, there is a lot of decoration, which again looked quite beautiful. However, the carpet was absolutely filthy, with it being nearly black where people have obviously walked, and the toilet floor was very sticky, like being in a nightclub. We had the early bird menu, just because we had booked at 6pm..We didn't realise there was an early bird menu until we got there. Very disappointing. The portions were very small and the main course looked like a ready meal. We were told this was because of us choosing the early bird menu. When we have visited other restaurants, and had the early bird menu, we have still got the same amount of food as the main, and the quality has been as good as the main menu. To us, the idea is to get people in during the quiet period and to give people good quality food and quantity, so that you will leave and recommend the restaurant to others. We will not recommend any one to go here!

Excellent as usual. It was a bank holiday and everyone seemed to arrive at once but the staff remained calm and the service, although not quite as fast as normal, was excellent in the circumstances. Food was fabulous. The mussels starter on the specials menu we amazing and very generous. Everything else was the usual very high standard. Lovely staff

Second time there and we enjoyed every minute. Tasty food, good atmosphere and great service. Nerino was very friendly and a pleasure to meet him. We will be back soon!

Been meaning to go for years and it didn't disappoint. The place was bustling last Friday and it was a 18:30 booking! The service was quick and the food really nice. Be sure to choose your meal in the waiting area before hand. Was put on a table we didn't like initially though after speaking to the waitress, the manager then put us at a table we liked. Left there stuffed (the garlic bread is like a pizza) though happy with the experience. We'll be going back

There’s nothing this place can do to make it any better for the man at the front desk to the bar staff all welcoming and food is amazing as usual would recommend this place to anyone

Gorgeous little place to go with friends for a drink or to share the food platters which are prepared & presented beautifully and enjoyed by everyone Love the wine flights , especially the variety on offer as well as the beer flights and the small but perfect range of spirits Friendly , helpful staff complete the visit

After a couple of hours roaming the hils and the "beach" The Shepards Rest Inn was a welcome stop. We booked ahead ( highly recommended) and were greated by friendly, welcoming staff at the bar and in the restuarant. The daily roast lunch was perfect with a big fluffy yourkshire pudding, so too was the fish and chips my parther had. The meals were generous and great value for money great food , welcoming staff and a cosy place for a couple of pints, we'll be back!

We eat here regularly. The food is lovely - fresh, tasty, and served quickly, with a smile! Michael, Jules and the team make you feel welcome and always have time for a chat. A calm, relaxing atmosphere with great (not intrusive) background music completes the picture.
