Amelies – ChorleyYet again i find myself writing another review of the best Italian restaurant in Preston, Last night me and my girlfriend had Tino himself cooking for us, and as per usual with Tinos the food and service was fantastic, infact it was that good that we will be returning in about 30mins, i cant recommend this restaurant highly enough, go and see for yourself.
Tinos – PrestonHad a fabulous meal at the New Pond in Cross Street, Preston. Picked around 5 dishes from the tapas menu (between the 2 of us) and everyone was top notch. My particular favourite was the Peruvian Stew. Seriously this is a must try dish!! Hot, spicy and fruity, it tickled all my tastebuds. There were some minor issues though. If they get these right it’ll turn Pond from a good restaurant to a fantastic restaurant. 1. Service was a bit slow, took about 15mins to get the bill at the end and struggled to get drinks while dining. 2. Card machine wasn’t working, so had to pay by cash (this should of been pointed out staff on arrival, rather than a flimsy bit of paper on toilet door) 3. Peruvian Stew said on menu served with bread, the bread never came. 4. No menu’s on website, all we could find was out of date menu’s on Sugarvine and OnionRing. 5. Alot of their literature said how Vegan/Veggie friendly they are, but Vegan friendly dishes were not marked on menu, so difficult to pick these out. 6. A beer/drinks menu on table would be good too, I heard they have lots of weird and wonderful drinks. But we didn’t know what there was to choose from. This review is not meant to be a criticism, as I will be back time and time again. But if they sort out these issues it could be perfect dining experience. 8/10
Duk-Pond – PrestonSuperb Sunday lunch. Coming from Earby we are used to Jade Palace and Ivy Palace. Decided to try the Beijing as we wanted a run out somewhere but didn't think it would be as good as the other two. We were proved wrong.....lovely setting with the two large fish tanks in the entrance. Food was delicious and portion sizes just right. Staff were lovely . friendly and helpful. We will certainly go back again.
Beijing Restaurant – BurnleyJust had the best meal for a long time at the Oyster&Otter. My wife & I have just been to the above and can not praise this place enough. First class in food and staff with very polite owners a young couple. That is going to go far with this team, and Chef we will definitely be going again,& again & again well worth a drive from St Annes. perfect decor and seating with log fire for the cold winter days & nights
Oyster and Otter – BlackburnRecently ate at the China Essence while visiting Carnforth, we were the only customers eating, so the meal was a little lacking in ambiance. We were there at opening time, so later in the evening the restaurant could have filled up. However the quality of food and portion sizes made up for the lack of seated customers. The prices of food and drinks were very reasonable. The restaurant provided us with a complimentary desserts. I would recommend this restaurant. There were lots of people calling in for take-aways.
China Essence Restaurant – CarnforthWe have just returned from a few days away in Kirkby Lonsdale. This was our first visit to the area and so had no idea where to eat. We were recommended by locals to go to Spice Essence. It was one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to, it is situated above a beautiful little courtyard and on a warm evening there are tables outside. Not expensive and the service was excellent. We will definitely go back on our next visit to the area.
Spice Essence – Kirkby LonsdaleStay away if you like authentic Indian food!! Absolutely nasty!!! Garlic chilli chicken was sweet, nagar chilli wasn't even spicy, shashlik king prawns would've been better from pataks!!! Stick to east z east or bukhara next time..... Excellent service pity about the quality of the food
Double Tree Indian Restaurant – PrestonAmazed by this place. I eat at many fantastic restaurants but this was the best Italian by far. Real authentic cooking. Nothing grand about the location but everything else was top notch. Service was very good too. Really surprised at the quality of this little venue!
Slice Of Sicily – PrestonMy husband and I have Been twice to the dressers on a Thursday evening when they have their special offer steak night. The food was beautiful and you also get a good bottle of wine all for £11.95 for 2. Exceptional value, we will be back.
Dressers Arms – ChorleyAfter having a fantastic fish chip's and mushy peas, i had to write this review. All the family loved their traditional home-cooked meals. Great value for money. Can't wait to go back.
The Plough Country Pub and Dining Room – LancasterExcellent food, excellent service, we ate from the offer menu 3 courses for £10.95 - fantastic value and quality
Italian Cottage – ChorleyThe young girl who works there is such a pleasure to be around she takes her time to make sure you are happy and satisfied, unlike I have to say the rather large man who was forever barking at the girl unusually so as from what we observed she was the only one in the place who smiled or actually worked! Food was v.good. Execellent service by that young lady a sure asset to the business.
Slice Of Sicily – PrestonNow this is not a recommendation,we ate at the place and it was terrible. What we couldn't understand is that people had recommended it and we couldn't understand why. The starter that we had was not fully warmed. The main course tasted like it was from Tesco and the restaurant seemed to be run by kids. We saw no sign of any obvious Italian staff in the place. On the plus side it must be said that the place was clean and although the staff were youngsters they were helpful polite and attentive. There were other people dining in the place (about 2 tables in all) and we wondered if these people dined there regularly. We on the other hand will not be returning as we wouldn't like to take a chance it might ruin our night. The meal on this occasion certainly did.
La Veranda – RawtenstallCalled in for a Meal on Sunday 29th May 2011 and we both decided to try the £8.95 offer, the service was good and the food was both delicious and plentiful. We didn't have any Alcohol but ordered 2 teas. Tea consisted of 2 small cups at £1.30 per cup. Would have been nice to have had a teapot. Our only gripe was that we had plenty of food left over and normally a restaurant are happy to let you take it home with you. We asked to take it home, but we were refused!! being told "its not the restaurants policy to take food away". Such a shame as we would have gone there again and we even offered to pay for a doggy-bag. Needless to say no tip offered.
North Street Indian Restaurant – RawtenstallHAVE JUST ARRIVED HOME FROM THE OLIVE, WE DINE THERE EVERY MONDAY. ALWAYS EXCELLENT FOOD BUT THE FOOD TODAY WAS ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT. GOOD FOOD, FRIENDLY STAFF AND VALUE FOR MONEY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Fat Olive – OrmskirkExcellent food I simply love Italian food the Thursday night 3 courses for £10.95 is excellent value and choice as long as you do not mind being totalling ignored after 7,25pm and asked to leave immediately even though we were not told on booking or arriving that if you ate from this menu you had to leave without coffee before 7.30pm.This totally spoilt the night for me.
Italian Cottage – ChorleyI have now visited the red lion on two occasions, and both have been very enjoyable evenings. The most recent visit was a Spanish theme night. The tapas was delicious, and my wife and i both had an enjoyable pork fillet for main. Good atmosphere, good service, all in all a pleasurable experience.
