The Fat Bull – Wiganfirst class 5 course lunch at Grafene. Beautiful presentation, choice ingredients, well crafted dishes. The place looks stunning. Bravo
Grafene – Manchester City CentreGreat ice cream in Manchester! Next time I will try the pizza that looks good!
Insolito – ManchesterGreat place for a coffee on Great Ancoats Street. Cool bright and airy. I'll eat next time!
Vivid Lounge – ManchesterLove finding new venues and new cuisines. This place serves Poke which is Hawaiian diced fish etc. Love the concept. tasty and healthy alternative to Sushi. The venue is cool in the Northern Quarter and self service and. Sure it will do well.
Oke Poke – ManchesterThe freshly minted new Abode looks lush. Great launch party last night to celebrate it. Stayed over too, rooms were great and a breakfast of champions!
ABode Manchester – Manchester City CentreI worked at Carluccio's in Hale for a couple of days. On the first day I arrived to find all the washing up from the day before was still there as they had no pot washer and no one else would do it and to make things worse we had to keep the back door closed as there was a rat outside the back door in the bins. Extremely bad hygene practices!!!
Carluccios – HaleVery pleasant modern café on the way out of Wigan to Standish. I had a lovely sandwich that came with a salad and cous cous . New owners as this was Café Orchid.
The Allotment – WiganA very accommodating place. Popped in for a takeaway slice of pizza that they didn't actually offer, however they said they would do one for me. I then thought I may as well have a full pizza (great value at £6.95) and it was excellent. Fresh wholesome ingredients and was full of flavour. Much better than the usual pizza, almost bruschetta. Very impress. The staff didn't mind me being a pain in the arse either. I will definitely go again when in Wigan
Cafe Diesis – WiganZiya is one of the few restaurants in Greater Manchester that is actually Indian rather than Bangladeshi or Pakistani. As a result the food is not typical. More important that Ziya's food is first class. I enjoyed pistachio tandoor chicken to start that was so succulent and flavoursome, the best starter I have had in an Indian restaurant. I then had a Chettinad curry to follow that was aromatic and full of tasty herbs and spices. The service was very good and I liked being able to see the chefs at work. I think they are the only restaurant to have a balcony in Rusholme , so a great place to watch one of the most unusual and colourful streets in England!
Ziya Asian Grill – RusholmeWe planned to go the bank restaurant in the vault Bolton my our friends. I called to see if we could make a reservation but was advised that they were not taking books and just to walk in and they will sit you down. I asked what is the possibility if we turned up at 7/7.30pm and I was rd there wouldn't be a problem. Well we turned up and the front of house was car rude and told us to come back in an hour if we can't find anywhere to eat. He has 45 parties in front of us and no you never called because we don't have a phone. So I showed hi. The number on my phone and he said you called bury road restaurant so you should leave as they will be waiting for you. We felt so disheartened that we just walked away as all the other guest were staring at us because the waiter was so rude and loud. I would never go again. There are other restaurants in Bolton who are polite and helpful. The moral of the story is never ever go to the bank unless you have booked or have 1 or 2 hours spare and also beware the waiter is rude and likes to humiliate you.
Augusto – BoltonOnce again fabulous food . Lovely relaxed atmosphere and cocktails to die for .
One Eighty Eight Kitchen & Bar – WhitefieldJust had a superb Sri Lankan meal at Sigiriya in Hale. The grills were brilliant (amazing lamb chops served pink) and every curry was a knockout (lamb on the bone, lentil and spinach, but especially mustard fish and - against all expectations - the hard-boiled egg). Come for dinner to make sure you get the full menu as the lunch is usually much more limited.
Sigiriya – HaleFood was excellent, service a little slow and disjointed, although it was busy.
Bistrot Pierre – AltrinchamI went to Haigh Hall on Sunday, the weather was lovely, the grounds were beautiful. But it was drastically let down by the catering facilities, with families with young children having to queue for over 30 minutes to be served with the most basic of dishes. Very disappointing.
Haigh Courtyard Tea Room and Cafe – WiganWent for lunch today lovely friendly staff excellent cocktails. I had braised beef which was gorgeous and my husband had the lamb which was delicious definitely will be going again.great little find.
One Eighty Eight Kitchen & Bar – WhitefieldVisited Gios in town last night pre theatre meal 14.95 for 2 courses. Hadn,t booked but they fitted us in was there 6.25 to 7.15 ish. Food was nice but wine very overpriced for as asked for a house one but at £21 was very steep we ordered 2 garlic breads as accompaniments too 3.95 for standard and cheese one too no price on menu given but 6.95 so effectively 3.00 for the (cheddar cheese topping) not even mozeralla. (Not very italian) We asked for bill and restaurant had then automatically added 10% service charge which to me for a table of 4 is a bit rich surely normally parties of 6 or more and is this not descretionary as too me you have to earn your tip and this wasn't stated on menus or any signs about it so I bet some people have got really stung on this and not realised. Only asking once if pepper was needed but not checking on food does not equate to earning it in my book. Before leaving looked about and notice chef had earphones on it kitchen and didn't have hat chef on either
Gio Ristorante – Manchester City CentreFound this place on here after exhibiting at the NRB Show. What an amazing place. The menu was excellent, we just asked the waiter to keep bringing food. Great value too for such a venue.
