Best Sunday dinner I've had for a long time. Every component was beautiful seasoned and flavoured. I dont usually like cauliflower cheese but this was a winner!!

Just attended our second Sunday lunch just to make sure the first wasn't a one off. It absolutely was not. The best Sunday roast I've had even my fussy partner agrees. This is now the only place I will be attending for one. Staff very efficient and attentive food 10/10 almost don't want to tell people about this hidden gem.

We love going to The Horse and Farrier whenever we are up in the lakes. The food is always delicious and for our group of 8 that includes all our choices. The service is brilliant and we enjoy the whole place. Thank you once again, we will be back

05 Aug 25 - We were staying locally and the pub was recommended and did not disappoint. A fab unpretentious pub, good atmosphere, lovely friendly staff, good beers and absolutely stunning food. Booking advisable. The next day we were walking the Ullswater Way and got chatting to a couple from Dockray who said the Horse & Farrier in Dacre was the best pub in the area!

Booked again at The Queens Head Tirral, great atmosphere, our food has always been terrific, this time however, my husband ordered the Fish and Chips, which is just a favourite there, the batter was very overcooked, this may I add is the first time its been like that, all other times its been absolutely delicious, did wonder if the same chef was there? This though, will not stop us going back, plenty on the menu to choose from.

Fantastic pub, the food was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. Unfortunately there wasn’t much choice for our dairy free child who is a very “cautious” eater. The safe option for him is usually steak but it was no longer on the menu.

A fabulous find. Set in a picturesque village, the pub is a fantastic draw all on its own. I last ate here 2019 and I’m so impressed with the latest menu and staff now in 2025. This time the venison and plumb sauces and vegetables were superb! Definitely one to swing by whenever we can.

Wow ate for Sunday lunch best food in the whole week for our holiday sticky toffee pudding was lovely Service great waitress pleasant and chatty would definitely go out of my way to eat again

Outstanding food! Impressive attention to detail in flavour and presentation. Service great, good choice of wines and beer, reasonably priced for what you get. This is no ordinary ‘pub grub’!

Brilliant everything a good British country pub should do, makes you want to return to the Lakes just to visit the H&F

We came while on holiday in penrith, the meal was lovely and I would recommend this place,the staff were friendly and helpful,we were a family of six,and the food was very tasty especially the lamb,we would go again soon.
