The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordCome here regularly after my walks around the village. Good selection of larger and recently a much better ale selection. Only minor criticism it would be lovely to be open every day for lunch as sometimes it closed.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordCame here recently. I believe they had a different chef to normal in the kitchen, however the food was fantastic as normal. Great service, very attentive.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWell what a nightmare!!! I had booked this place for a special birthday meal having dined at other Craft and Jam pubs and viewing the menu on-line we were all looking forward to the meal with eager anticipation. Firstly the service. We arrived at the pub the bar was quite full, so far so good, although no sign of any staff so maybe it was a free bar and that’s why everyone was smiling? We went into the restaurant which was empty save for one couple tucked away in the corner both looking a bit gloomy. (Maybe they had missed out on the free bar lol) We waited a while, no sign of staff anywhere. A couple of strategic coughs later the barmaid arrived with a slightly surprised look on her face that people were actually in the restaurant. I explained we had booked a table but no checking was needed after all the place was empty. The barmaid handed us two menus (which were stuck together with some unknown substance but presumably the remnants of someone’s previous meal) there were three of us by the way so three menus would have been nice, then led us to our table. Most of the menu was crossed out, no steaks, no mixed grill, in fact pretty much nothing I think there might have been an old cottage pie left for us to fight over?!?! The barmaid, come head waitress and who knows possibly chef as well did mutter a sorry that suppliers had let them down but it should be okay by tomorrow (Not sure what good that was as I wasn’t willing to sit at the table for 24 hours for my food) and led us to our table to deliberate. The meal itself. Well what can I say. Well nothing actually because there wasn’t really anything to order. I would love to enthuse that my steak was cooked to perfection or to rave about the sumptuous chicken wing starters but I can’t, they didn’t have any!!! We swiftly reached the conclusion this was a complete shambles and left now having the prospect of hastily arranging another venue to celebrate my sons birthday. Now I fully accept things happen outside of the pubs control but what I find absolutely disgusting and incredibly poor customer service is it wouldn’t have taken much to send out an email to the bookings for that evening (after all at the time we arrived there was only us and one other table occupied) and explain that suppliers had let them down and they had none or next to no food available. We ended up having a fabulous curry in Shrewsbury in the end but my advice if you want to make sure of a lovely meal with a great choice of food and great customer service, don’t do as we did by booking this place first, cut out the middle man and book somewhere else straight away.
The Bull – ShrewsburyWe really enjoyed our Valentine's Day meal. It was lovely to see a different menu than the normal weekly one. The amount of food was ideal (often we find the platefuls overwhelming) and it was very tasty. We were disappointed when we ordered gin and tonics to be told there were no lemon slices. However when we complained the waitress did manage to find a slice! We were also slightly disappointed that there was no attempt to decorate the room for Valentine's Day. You could buy hanging decorations from the community shop...
The Smokey Cow – TelfordBeautiful food, well presented and fairly good service speed etc. enjoyed all that we ordered. Will be coming back.

The Malthouse – TelfordLovely pub food a bit pricey and beef covered in black pepper on sunday roast Staff very friendly and polite Food good quality
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordHands down one of the best, if not the best Sunday Roasts we have had. Beautiful pub, great staff, what more do you want. I only wish it was our local.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyFood was amazing! Great staff, really looked after us. Would def recommend the beef roast
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordHad a great relaxing night no one rushing you for your table back, staff really helpful , good food, drinks and music to top it all, will definitely return , thanks for a lovely evening
The Smokey Cow – Telforda very strange menu which is too fragmented - the fusion style does not work. the service was excellent but the food was not good. The server advised my husband that the buffalo chicken wings were spicy which was fine but there is spicy and inedible - these were inedible. Then my husbands main course - the slow cooked pork belly was just awful... the fat layers had not melted and there were whole pieces of thick fat that were just disgusting. The mustard mash was claggy and very little sauce - just a really bad plate of food and £16 for a bad plate of food is really annoying! My starter was ok - calamari was crispy and tasty. My main was nice - chicken chasseur but my dessert was not good. Lemon Lime cheesecake with a base so hard that I could not cut through it with the spoon and had to use a knife to break the base.... overall £60 for a meal which was REALLY disappointing!
The Malthouse – TelfordWe booked a table of 12 for an evening meal, the food was fantastic, everyone enjoyed all 3 courses. Lovely atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. 2 diners ordered sea bass which was advertised with a spring roll. One asked if the spring roll was veggie when ordering and told it was. Then it didn’t arrive on the plate and the waiter said he would go and get one or knock something off the bill. We were then told that it shouldn’t of been on the menu so not available and no discount. For such a large bill, a token something would have been nice. However, it was a lovely evening and I would return again and recommend.
The White Hart – IronbridgeOur food on Saturday evening was excellent, however, because it was so busy, we ordered drinks which didn’t arrive and were added to the bill. There was also a random serving of fries added to the bill, which we hadn’t ordered or received- not a deal breaker, we will return. The music man was a bonus- great sound, finished the evening off nicely. Thank you.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordArrived early at 7.10pm for a 7.30 reservation. Got taken to our table within 2 mins. Took drink order at 7.15pm took 15 mins to arrive. Food order taken at 7.30pm and food arrived at 8.10pm. There were plenty of staff on and the restaurant wasn’t full. Food was ok. Plates were cold so the meat element of my meal was only Luke warm. Got asked by the waitress if we needed sauce, we asked for mayonnaise which never showed up!!! Never got asked if we wanted more drinks. Waited 15 mins after finishing our meal and no service so didn’t order pudding. I waited another few minutes and went to the bar to pay. All the waiting staff looked very young and there was distinct lack of management. Overall it was a disappointing meal, the food could of been better, the service was slow and poor. There was a live singer on who was so loud we had to raise our voices to talk to each other. You don’t need a loud mic and the amp turned up full in such a small setting. We have been visiting this establishment for a drink in the beer garden over the last few years. ( The service is always slow) It’s a shame as it’s a nice looking pub with a good menu. We won’t be visiting for a meal again soon.
