This is the third time I have visited the Elephant Crossing. Testament to the wonderful food, atmosphere and great service. I'd say this is my favourite restaurant at the moment. Such great flavours and presentation of food and the price is really reasonable. The staff are friendly and a bonus you can take your four legged furry friends along too :-)

When you have spent a few days cooking for the family, I was so looking forward to our meal at The Smokey Cow....... We were told we could sit wherever we wanted even though we had booked. That's not how to do it, make your guests feel special, show them to their table, give them their menu or take their drinks order. I made the effort to book with you, at least make the effort to acknowledge that. We were told that there were no ribs (again, that's the third time), no scampi, no SF chicken and no hand cut chips. Disappointed to say the least! My fiancé and son chose burgers each which were ok but not what they had wanted. I chose Mac and cheese and asked for buffalo chicken, also not what I had wanted but thought it would be tasty. No buffalo chicken and no garlic pretzel. I chose bacon and a side salad. Putting a very small amount of salad by a warm dish is not okay. Come on! The Mac and cheese was over cooked, tasted odd, almost old. I could not be bothered to say anything as the staff were too busy chatting to everyone at the bar. The girl serving us was sweet and did her job well but what's the point in complaining when the food was poor and half of it missing from the menu. £5 for a small dish of seasoned fries is unfair! To add insult to injury, the girl serving us came over, dumped cheap crackers on the table and said her supervisor had told her to do so. We left them, our Christmas spirit has been squashed We have always had a lovely time at the Smokey Cow but this was far from acceptable. It is no excuse whatsoever that you have been busy over Christmas. Poor planning. Don't open for food if you cannot manage it. Not sure what went wrong but nobody seemed bothered. Used to be a great place to go! Sad times!

We enjoyed a fabulous Boxing Day lunch here all 7 of us. Service impeccable and quick despite all the tables being full. Food was tasty and lots of choice. No negatives just a lovely positive experience. Thank you to all the hard working staff at The Last Inn

Joined you for Christmas dinner on Christmas day. Thank you so much, the meal was wonderful, perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would definitely book again.

Had our Christmas Day meal there. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and well presented, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Everything was cooked to perfection and staff were extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful and welcoming . We were not at all rushed and there was no pressure to leave once we’d finished eating. Very reasonably priced for Christmas Day. Will definitely return. Thank you to all the team at The Last for making our visit so enjoyable.

We had Christmas Lunch at The Last Inn this year. The food was nice and it was great that the food choices that had been submitted were noted. However we were disappointed with service. We were surprised as previous experiences there had been very good. On this occasion, the service was appalling. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was basically dumped at the edge of the table, no chiller provided, no checking that it was okay or the right one. This was followed by plates of food dumped once more in the same way. Servers huffing as they did so, no smiling at all, resulting in a poor dining experience. The server who cleared our table at the end was different, she was smiling, attentive and friendly. The planning of bookings was well organised; a good flow of tables being filled which allowed the servers to not be overstretched. All the more surprising for the poor service. Overall a disappointing Christmas Day unfortunately.

Went for Christmas Eve with the family and we were not let down. Great venue and beautiful food. We have eaten in steak restaurants all over the world and this was up there with some of the best. Starters were lovely we had two prawns and one mozzarella. Could have done with a finger bowl with prawns. Mozzarella was amazing. Then we had two fillets and a tomahawk and this was fantastic. The sides of tempura vegetables accompanied the mains perfectly. Service was a little slow in parts and probably needs to be looked at so it does not let them down. Also outdoor signage really needs to be sorted and advertising because we found it on the off chance but people don’t know it is there. I really hope this succeeds as it was lovely and Shrewsbury needs something like this.

We booked two weeks ahead for a quiet family meal. We specifically requested a quiet table because one of the party has hearing loss and wears hearing aids. When we arrived we were left standing for about ten minutes and were ignored by the staff. When eventually we were spoken to, we were asked if we were part of a Christmas Party booking. We explained the booking we had made and the person who was managing tables was very dismissive and rude. She looked at the computer and said that the entire restaurant was booked for two large Christmas parties and there would be nowhere quiet. So basically tough luck. Due to her manner and the fact they hadn’t contacted us ahead of time to explain that the restaurant would be noisy, we decided to eat elsewhere. I know Christmas is a busy time for everyone, but the staff’s manner and the fact that they made us feel so unwelcome and an inconvenience, means we’re unlikely to eat at the Malthouse again. Very disappointed.

The food on Christmas Eve was excellent. We all had three courses and prosecco as part of the Christmas Fayre special. Every course was delicious, perfectly cooked and piping hot, the calamari and the pie in particular were fabulous. Will and the other server were great, really attentive, great attitudes and full of Christmas spirit. I would highly recommend this venue for a great atmosphere and delicious food.

Booked to attend Christmas eve 4 adults snd 4 young children, only to be told we had no table booked and they were not serving food. The welcome we received was absolutely appalling and the way we were spoken to was completely disrespectful and unwelcome. 2 women behind the bar were whispering between themselves and I was made to feel like I couldn't take some time to look through my emails to find my booking. We have been many times in the past and have always loved the food , atmosphere and the warm welcome we receive from Kerry and a young red headed girl. Unfortunately we didn't see either of them last night and we were appalled by the way we were spoken to. We shall not be returning .
