This is a favourite place to meet friends for Sunday lunch. As usual we all enjoyed the food, which was nicely cooked and the portion size and price is really good. The place has a nice relaxed atmosphere and we were served by friendly staff; we’ll definitely go back….again…

Y Sgwar, Tremadog is a lovely location to be at & we were greeted well by staff once you have walked in to tell them your name you are being appointed to your table without any fuss & staff were great at table service as well & the meal was exceptional but a mistake was made with the bill so please double check your bill before paying but highly recommend & would dine there again.

Our second visit here and absolutely fab food. Great service hot food and friendly staff will definitely be our favourite place to eat whilst visiting Barmouth.

Friendly welcome on quite a busy Friday night. Although we live locally it was our first visit to the restaurant but it won't be our last. Good choice of food and drink on offer at a reasonable price. The food was delicious and well presented. Service was friendly if a little haphazard at times. The only downside for us was that as a couple we felt a bit hemmed in by the larger, noisier parties around us.

Y Sgwar was recommended in our hosts guide to the area. The food is hearty and substantial and very reasonably priced; service is very friendly. We chose as our starters the haloumi and the black pudding scotch egg; both were good. Our mains were mushroom arancini on a tomato based sauce, and Welsh rump of lamb. I requested medium rare lamb but received medium to well done and the dauphinois potatoes a little dry but even so the food was delicious. The restaurant is quite large and brightly lit.

Friendly welcome. Good service. Table poorly situated in back annex next to kitchen door. Decent food though server forgot side dishes. Great chips!

The menu did not look very different to many 'gourmet pub' menus, and we were almost persuaded to try elsewhere, but the recommendation prevailed, and we booked. So glad that we did, because while the menu resembled aspiring gourmet pubs with active microwaves, the food very much did not. It was splendid. Clearly this restaurant has mastered.the art both of shopping and of cooking, as everything was excellent. My only sadness about this meal was that it was eaten while on a short break nearby, and I will not be able to repeat the experience any time soon. Those of you who live near, go frequently; visitors, don't miss it!

Best Sunday dinner I've had that I didn't have to cook. Portions were a good size and the meat just melted in my mouth. A quick service with a short waiting time. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. A great garden with areas for children to play too.

We’ve been to this restaurant many times for evening meals so thought we would try a Sunday Lunch. We were not disappointed. All courses were wonderful. The soup was so tasty as was the bread it came with. The roast dinner was excellent with a great range of potatoes and vegetables. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert. I would highly recommend. This place never disappoints!!

On arrival, me and my family where warmly welcomed and seated straight away, staff where so helpful with getting high chair for baby and quick to take our drinks order. Food was warm and tasted amazing, me and my partner had the 2 courses for the Sunday dinner and very delicious and satisfying. Children's meals was great portions only fault I had was no chicken nuggets but my daughter tried the pasta and loved it. Pub was clean and had a lovely homely feel. Would definitely be dinning here again when we visit Llangollen.
