Y Sgwar – PorthmadogMy mum and I visited this restaurant for dinner during my visit back to UK from New Zealand. I was amazed by the quality of the food and the service. I would highly recommend this restaurant - so impressed!!

Y Sgwar – PorthmadogDuring our recent trip to Wales, we had the pleasure of dining at Y Sgwâr in the small town of Tremadog. Y Sgwâr immediately impressed us with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor struck a perfect balance between cozy and stylish, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed yet refined dining experience. On our first visit, the quality of the food was so good that we canceled our reservation at another restaurant and returned the next night. The menu was diverse, offering a wide variety of options that catered to different tastes and preferences. Each dish was crafted with care, and the flavors were both rich and nuanced. One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional service provided by the host. He was witty, knowledgeable, and friendly, adding a personal touch that enhanced our dining experience. His insights into the menu and recommendations were invaluable, and his engaging personality made us feel truly welcome. We spent two wonderful evenings at Y Sgwâr, enjoying not only the delicious food but also the delightful company and impeccable service. I wholeheartedly recommend Y Sgwâr to anyone visiting the area of Porthmadog, Porthmeirion and Harlech.

Telfords Bistro – ConwyVery nice meal and surroundings. Good service and would return.
The Victoria Inn – BarmouthCame here last night (Friday) and immediately noticed that all of the tables had the cutlery the wrong way round! Mentioned this to staff, but nothing was done except on our table, and we were the only people in the restaurant! Scallops and cod tacos for starters were tasty, but the actual tacos were black and not at all enjoyable, but the cod was lovely. Sea bass was very tasty but the cod for the main course was tasteless. Also, the chef had put salt on the cod - NO!!!!! extra seasoning should be for the customer to do. I had to pick mine up and shake it off, it was far too much salt. Having to order potatoes as an extra was a bit of an imposition, and the portions of vegetables as extras were miniscule. I expected larger portions for the price that was being charged. Having said that, the pea puree was divine. Although a few more customers arrived, the restaurant was cold and I had to wear my coat whilst eating. However, the Chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream was delicious, and rounded the meal off nicely. Altogether, not the best experience for the money, we won't be rushing back which is a shame as the building is so beautiful.
The Old Courthouse – CaernarfonExcellent service and food.

Y Sgwar – PorthmadogVery good and tasty food but quite expensive for what one gets. Good atmosphere with friendly staff but very slow service although it was a busy Saturday in good weather. Maybe Chef can't handle the number of covers compared to the seating capacity. Second time we've been and will almost certainly go again.
