This was the first visit of my wife and I to Y Sgwar and we were very impressed indeed. For various reasons we had to phone ahead to ask to delay our booking time by half an hour, and this was no trouble at all. On arrival, the welcome was warm and we were shown straight to our table. The choice on the menu was varied and interesting which, on the one hand, made the selection difficult, but on the other, encouraged us to come back to try the options we had not picked. The meal was very tasty, beautifully-presented and subtle; what we appreciated, given that we prefer light food, was that it was not at all heavy. Overall, we felt that everything at Y Sgwar was extremely well-judged, and we look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Fabulous! From arrival to departure this is a wonderful experience. The food is superb and the ambience - excellent restaurant meets “family” atmosphere- is great It’s a venue we book whenever we’re in the area, which is not as often as we would like, and we are never disappointed. The menu offers almost too many choices ( it tempts several return visits in a week, it’s so good) and the service is very good without too many visits to the table with “how’s the food”. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help. It’s a wonderful place and I’d highly recommend it

We always enjoy the afternoon carvery at Holt Lodge but Wednesday's carvery was a disappointment. The roast potatoes were like bullets and did not taste as if they had been cooked that day and the gravy was very thin compared to their usual tasty gravy. The chef was not serving the carvery so I don’t know if the food was cooked without his supervision. I am hoping that is not an example of the kitchen reducing their attention to detail, particularly as I know we were not the only customers who noticed. I am hoping that usual service will be resumed as it was becoming a regular favourite of ours.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner at Y Sgwar on 9th April. As on previous visits, the food was excellent quality, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, with portions being just right. Selection of wines on offer was also good. Service was super, we were looked after by two young waitresses who were friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the menu choices. I requested a window table which we were allocated. Would not hesitate to recommend and we look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful food, brilliant atmosphere. Service was really quick and the people behind the bar were really friendly. Excellent value for money, highly recommended.

Lovely warm welcome with a great atmosphere, and the best seafood linguine ever!

Lovely meal in a wonderful restaurant. We had dinner, steak and veal both were cooked to perfection. The fillet steak was cooked as requested, tasty and tender. The veal was beautiful however the brandy sauce was peppercorn and brandy and too strong for the meat. I only put a little on the plate. Dessert, we both had crème brûlée which was nice, bit too cold and could have done with a thicker sugar crisp top. That said the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble.

We booked a table for 3 to experience something different and enjoyed trying out some very unfamiliar foods . It was a ramen and sushi night and was some of the best sushi we’ve ever tried . None of us are vegan but it was a very interesting experience . The couple who run the Foxglove are fun and locals clearly enjoy the restaurant . Would have been nice to have had a written menu to refer to but we did get good info from them when dishes were brought to the table . A fun night .

We ate at Y Sgwar on Saturday evening and had the early bird menu. The venue is beautiful, lots of character and welcomed by a beautiful roaring fire. Staff were attentive, friendly and everything felt positively personal from the moment we arrived. Food was exceptional, absolutely beautiful and great portion sizes. We will definitely be back, simply perfect.

Wonderful Food, recommended

We’ve been wanting to come since the bistro opened and finally had a weekend in Conwy so booked a table. We were not disappointed . As we walked through the door the smell of perfectly cooked food greeted us. Along with a busy chatty atmosphere. The food was simply excellent. Bigger portions than we are used to. The staff were so helpful and attentive. We certainly will be back very soon. Amazing place

This is our second meal at the Telford Bistro and we thoroughly enjoyed it once again. Our waitress was incredibly attentive (very personable without being over bearing) and made sure the evening ran very smoothly. The food is gorgeous and the atmosphere was buzzing the place was full, which is a rare sight in Conwy prior to the onset of the tourist season.

Best Sunday lunch in area however it was wedding anniversary and we asked for table for two but were unfortunately sitting between a large noisy group booking and a table with crying children. Not very romantic.
