I was highly recommended Sage and vine and very disappointed. The food was a bit tastles. The mussels we had were flavourless. The calamari were nkt crispy and a lot of it was spicy even though wasn't stated on the menu there will be anything spicy in it . We had 2 deserts that had alcohol in them and the 2 kids that had them were never asked about their age so assumed they were alcohol free. Wouldn't go back .

Sage and Vine – CarlisleHad a table booked for 4. Asked to be sat away from the door as it was very drafty when guests walked in. Was put on a table next to, (which was still drafty) the original as they had no other tables, luckily there wasn't a lot of people going in & out. Service was good. Menu was explained very well as a person in our party had allergies. Cod loin was very dry and the calamari was soggy. There was a prawn dish that had a raw prawn in it, which they deducted from the bill without us even questioning it. The lamb kleftiko was nice. Personally I didn't have a good experience, but have been before & found it very enjoyable.

We brought the grandkids this time and to say they loved it was an understatement, they even want to work there if they can get paid with the food! Menu is amazing with something for every taste. The service was extremely good with the waiting staff ensuring we were happy but not constantly asking!! I have only given 4 for atmosphere as the restaurant was very quiet, presumably because it was early evening.

The cheese souffle was outstanding and in fact it is so substantial that next time I will have it with the bread and green salad instead of a main course (and then there will be room for dessert!). Kitchen able to accommodate slight ingredient variation on a main course with absolutely zero fuss which was appreciated. This pub does very very good food and so it's a bit pricier than other places but you're getting amazing quality dishes cooked from scratch which is worth paying for. Already planning return visit!

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWe love this place. We ate here first, a few years back and the experience was good enough for us to book our Wedding Day meal for 2 there (yes in our 60s we finally "eloped"). We were not disappointed. Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Amazing place. If I wasn't over 200 miles away, I'd be a regular there. Top notch! Thoroughly recommend it.
