4 of us visited after a long hot hike up Helvellyn, great food and friendly service, staff even had time to show a sense of humour after what must have been a long sweltering shift. Will be back!!

After lots of research and looking at reviews we chose the Pheasant Inn for my partners 40th birthday dinner, I booked a table for 3 people. I pre booked weeks in advance and paid for the reservation, I mentioned on the reservation it was a big birthday. On arrival it was clearly very busy so I appreciate the staff were doing the best they could. However we were greeted with a very frosty reception, we felt rushed throughout the meal, even though we didn't dally with our ordering or eating. We weren't offered the dessert menu as it was clear they wanted us to move on. When we approached the front to pay, the lady who had been serving us asked us if we had arrived for our booking, as she didn't recognise us. The food was nice but overall very disappointed that we chose this pub for a 40th.

Wow!!! It’s always a lottery when trying to find somewhere for a good Sunday roast but we need look no longer! We had the roast beef cooked to our liking and was very tender the vegetables were amazing never had cauliflower cheese like this real cheese and a crispy topping, carrots cooked to perfection and roasties too with fabulous gravy too, just so many flavours we didn’t want it to end but dessert was stunning panna cotta with honey raspberries champagne jelly and toffee popcorn never tasted anything like it just stunning, can’t wait o go back Staff we very friendly and helpful

Food lovely went back twice and the staff were very friendly and sociable we’ll be back best food in the area we stayed

Warm welcoming pub with good home cooked food and brilliant service.

Another great meal at the Wheatsheaf,we eat here around once a month on our way from Frodsham to the Lakes.Never disappointed would particularly recommend the fish and chips,no plastic food here all freshly cooked.

My friend visited Penrith for the first time and we really enjoyed the food and service. She is gluten free/dairy free and the staff were very accommodating with GF bread, a starter option and offered a DF option to accompany the monkfish. Lovely experience - I shall be back.

Charming bistro, cosy and friendly. The food was amazing, especially the steak. Would definitely go back.

Wonderful meal & superb service as usual

Service was fantastic, unfortunately quite a few menu options were not available, what was even more disappointing as we were eating at just after 6pm, so wouldn’t have expected 4 dishes to have sold out. The salmon dish was lovely, as was the fish and chips. However the falafel burger was disappointing. The burger was bland and the ciabatta bun was so hard, my daughter was unable to able to eat it.

We booked for an 80th birthday party. As there were 16 attending we pre ordered starters & mains. The service was faultless, and everyone got what they had pre ordered. The food was lovely, with not one complaint from our party. The chef even made a nice plain cheesy past for the kids, which wasn't on the menu. Can fully recommended.

First time visit and would highly recommend. Each course was delicious and of high quality, service friendly but not intrusive. A must visit in grasmere
