Once again we were impressed by the friendly, unfussy service and the good home cooked food, especially the beef pie - along with well kept Jennings beer.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe visited as a party of 7 on a Saturday evening, we had pre booked many weeks before. We enjoyed a delicious meal, everyone just had main courses, the menu catered for a wide range of dietary needs, we had a coeliac and vegetarian within our party and we had plenty of choice. Food was delicious and ample portion size. Staff friendly and helpful
Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent meal and friendly service in a lovely restaurant with great atmosphere.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe stopped off at Grants on the way to the Lakes and I’m pleased we did! Phenomenal food, great value and lovely service.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithBeen here for the last 3 nights eating and we can not felt it at all . Rush off there feet but still do the best for you . It’s got to b good cos we keep coming …
Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent service. Excellent food. Definitely recommended.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAlthough the staff were lovely, unfortunately the food was not! And it was very much over priced for what it was. I had the black pudding and mushrooms to start, which actually was really nicely presented, but didn't blow me away and the sauce was very watery. I then had the pork belly for my main which was very dry and cut in a large circle shape making it very filling as usually pork belly isn't that big. The sauce and sides (mash ect) were ok but not worth the £23 I paid for it. The pints of peroni were also extortionate at £7 a pint, which is just ludicrous! With it being dog friendly myself and partner were really pleased we could take our pooch with us, but the inside decor was extremely dated, the front door looked like it needed a repaint to say the least and the windows and sills needed a thorough clean to get rid of cobwebs and dead flies. A shame really as it's in a great spot in Grasmere, but won't be returning any time soon.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereFriendly efficient staff Pleasing ambience Excellent food Will be returning
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeGood location if staying in Grasmere. Not particularly welcoming or attentive overall but some senior staff were friendly. Decor felt a bit Ikea and without a theme. Music let the vibe down - strange 'pop hits' playlist featuring Ed Sheeran, Drake, and dance music - overpowering and not right for a restaurant (maybe Wetherspoons on a Saturday night). A few quite minor changes could make this place a much better experience.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereCan't recommend this place enough, lovely relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeA lovely evening meal at Harry's. The atmosphere was cosy and romantic. Attentive and friendly service. Great three course meal, with excellent vegetarian options. Would highly recommend a visit.
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsI took my wife for a surprise trip to the Lake District and we stayed in Grasmere. Found Lewis's through the hotel where were staying and managed to book a table for two. The bistro was full but atmosphere was very pleasant. The Manager/owner and staff were all very nice and approachable. I had the french onion soup to start, this was vrry nice. For my main I had the tandoori sea bass which sounds unusual to start, but the flavours did not over power the fish. My wife never had a starter but did have the large fillet of sea bass and she said it was very nice. both were served with new potatoes and seasonal veg. The service was very prompt and not over bearing even though you book a particular window of time we did not feel rushed or harried. All in all a very nice evening.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe have been to the Pheasant Inn quite a few times and always book a table for our first night in Keswick. The food is very good and the staff are lovely which makes for an enjoyable evening. In fact we are going back on Friday evening for another meal.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickVery pleasant meal in comfortable and relaxed surroundings, and restaurant accommodated a later sitting when we were delayed in traffic. My partner and I had the pork belly which was tasty. Only negative was the poor reception. On our arrival, a member of staff looked at us enter then walked away, then we were greeted shortly after by a friendly staff member. Thereafter service was everything you would expect.
Lewis’s Bistro – Grasmere1st impressions when walking in was seeing the chef chatting to customers wearing a pair of shorts and an apron covered in basically all that he had cooked that week...not a good sight. Meal was ok but the staff seemed to rush us out as quickly as possible, as one waitress took away our starters another brought our main, didnt even get time to drink the bland wine we ordered . We had been to Grassmere a couple of times before and tried to get into this restaurant thinking it would be a nice place but each time it was fully booked, seems we were let down. We ate at our hotel next day , we were not let down there one bit.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe visited following a recommendation from our B and B host for my husbands birthday. The menu isn’t massive but is varied and means the food is fresh and extremely well cooked and presented. I had the fillet steak and my husband the monkfish - my steak was cooked absolutely perfectly. Food was tasty and the staff very attentive. Would return if we are in the area again.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThat is probably the best meal I have ever had in Carlisle. Will be back next visit.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleStrange experience. Staff are rather aloof. Meal seemed to be straight out of the freezer and into the microwave. On a plus point. Ideal location within the beautiful village of Grasmere.
