Really good night out, food was excellent and wine was good.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe have always enjoyed previous meals at La Mezzaluna so when we were in Carlisle for my wife's birthday, it was first choice for a celebration meal. The food was as great as ever, as was the value for money, but I was a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of the special occasion despite me pointing it out on the online booking. Also, arriving at the booked time of 7.30, all the places on the 'upper deck' were taken, so we were given a table nearer the door, with a resulting draft every time the door opened. Later in the evening, tables upstairs came clear so were allocated to later arrivals. Seemed as though we were penalised for arriving mid-evening although I had booked weeks before (as a birthday surprise). I didn't say anything on the night as it would have spoiled the occasion, but perhaps the table allocation policy for bookings could be looked at for the future.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAbsolutely amazing as always
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleExperience at the Wheatsheaf, at the weekend was exceptional. We had booked a table for a birthday celebration and due to the numbers (10 people and 4 dogs), we were offered a table upstairs, which was beautifully arranged. Unfortunately on the day, one of the guests obtained an injury which resulted in them being unable to walk upstairs. The staff were amazing and did everything they could to accommodate us downstairs, so we could still all sit together. As a result, we had a fantastic night, the food, drink and service were brilliant. Thank you, to all the staff at the Wheatsheaf!
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeExcellent meal, we both chose different dishes and were equally pleased with quality and quantity. Good service and friendly atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the Wheatsheaf and would happily return.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeExcellent meal on Saturday 15th April the scallops were delicious and my husband who is gluten free ate every mouthful of his steak and loved the strawberry cheesecake service was great and is definitely our favourite restaurant in Grasmere
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereAnother lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf, we use it as the lunch option for walks in the area (with people coming from Manchester and the North East) and have never been disappointed. We will be back.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeThe Kats Kitchen staff were very welcoming and the food was amazing. Even a call too say we had left an umbrella. Would definitely recommend.
Plant by Kat’s Kitchen – KeswickLovely food, well cooked and tasty. I’m vegetarian so not a huge choice for me but enough and it was delicious. My husband had the fillet steak which he said was beautifully cooked. It was full and had a great atmosphere and the service was faultless.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereLovely pub. Great food as always. Had some friends over from Manchester and took them for lunch. They loved it. Lovely atmosphere Good surroundings Polite friendly staff Good food
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe had a great meal last night: good ingredients very well cooked, with a pleasant ambiance and good service.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe enjoyed our recent meal here. The food was both good quality and well presented. Would recommend.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithDelicious, inventive dishes full of flavour! Friendly and welcoming atmosphere with lovely staff and a cosy interior, highly recommended!
Plant by Kat’s Kitchen – KeswickLovely food and service. We opted for the chicken dishes which were served with excellent roasted veg & homemade chips. Good value for money.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleHad a super time, lovely place, friendly staff and fabulous food
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithWe felt that the food arrived far too quick, inside 10 minutes, almost as though we were being rushed out. The menu is very limited and we knew this but had assumed there would be quite a few specials. There were about 4 specials but not a great choice. I picked the chicken burger off the specials and my wife picked the salmon with potatoes but misunderstood that this came with cold uncooked vegetables. Anyway, my burger was ok but he chips were thin fries like McDonalds fries with a small limp side salad. My wife said her salmon and potatoes were ok but she want keen on the abundance of raw carrot, cucumber and raddish! Overall, we were disappointed and probably wouldn’t go back. Also, we are both slim and not big eaters who normally only eat one course, but we both needed a desert to fill ourselves up!
