We dined on a Monday evening after the schools had gone back, so the Inn was quite quiet. We both had fish which was beautifully cooked, followed by dessert. Atmosphere was relaxed, service attentive. A very pleasant evening all in.

Tapas is such a good way to eat when it's done well, and it's done well at Maritimo. The staff were efficient, attentive and very pleasant. Everything about the evening was splended - very strongly recommend.

My wife had the beef and my mum and I had the chicken - meat was succulent, gravy very rich and tasty, crispy roast potatoes and large Yorkshire puddings. Staff were very attentive and helpful as my mum has sight and mobility issues and nothing was too much trouble. Also, a good selection of ales too as a bonus! Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be going again!
The Hour Glass Inn – ExeterThere’s only one thing from stopping the Castle from getting a 5 and that’s the gluten free option means having things removed from your plate. Things like cauliflower cheese could simply be made from corn flower, then it’s accessible for everyone coeliacs are not on a diet, they just can’t eat gluten. I get Yorkshire pudding might be more of a problem, but just buy them in, then we would happily come more often.
The Castle Inn – BarnstapleFantastic Sunday roast for two of us visiting, the location is a real gem if you know where to look and was a real treat. Would recommend as a great off-the-quay watering hole or spot to catch up. A real ship setting with wooden beams and floors, a tour de force of helpful staff and happy patrons. My only suggestion would be to park at the quay and walk over rather than circle for a parking spot or risk Topsham road. But well worth the travel.

One of our group requested to change the cheese on their burger and the staff passed the request to the kitchen and it happened without any fuss. The Exeter brewery beer selection was excellent.
