Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamVisited on 21/10/2023 as a table of 8 - 6 adults and 2 children aged 13 and 4. Have been a few times with my immediate family in the past and always been impressed. Option of 2 or 4 course meal definitely makes it even better value for money and the kids 3 course meal is excellent too. Everything we ordered was amazing - I ordered the black pudding scotch egg, garlic and herb kebab and sticky toffee pudding with custard - all super tasty. The only thing that was ordered that wasn't the best was the steak - it was described as "a bit tough" by the person who ordered it but other than that, a lovely family meal out in quirky surroundings.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamWe had a lovely meal in prego. Treated ourselves to 2 and a half courses each (we shared a dessert!). The mackerel pate was absolutely divine. The food was beautifully presented with taste to match. It was very busy but the staff were pleasant and done their best to serve us as quickly as possible.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamGood value happy hour menu. Very friendly service and my friends said food was good. Unfortunately for me I have no taste following recent covid infection but it looked good.
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamGreat service, lovely food. There Happy Hour, good sized portions great value for money.
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamBack from another brilliant night away at Derwent Manor & yet another fabulous meal in the restaurant, staff are so friendly here. Looking forward to our next visit soon.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamWe spend a really lovely morning in the spa, having pre ordered our lunch by 1pm we were really ready to eat , but we waited a very long time for our food , having to ask the very friendly waitress twice about our food, I must say the food was delicious, but then had to wait again for our desserts . This would iam afraid put us off returning to the Restaurant any time soon .
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleLoved the dining room. Decor fitting for the location. Not a grey wall in sight ! Food was ok, but as previously mentioned by someone, the plate was cool. The waitress was very good and attentive.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleWant here as local to place staying for a wee birthday break. Seems the staff a very lax. Had booked the table, arrived at the appointed time, got seated, and then ordered Firstly, some items off the menu, the wife order sea bass, but it seems they never Succotash as per menu. So, it's not a real big problem. I ordered the steak pie [(or beef and ale pie as per menu) not available So I ordered the chicken wrapped in bacon. Should come with clapshot, it did not, only potatoes and chicken. No explanation nor apology Seemed staff more interested in a large group that are there. The person who took our order never saw him again. Took ages from ordering to on table. The two sitting behind us, who came in 5 minutes after us, got severed before we did Food was fine, just not as per menu, and took what seemed ages Was going to have pudding, but decided to leave, as service was terrible. Pity but can't say I would return nor recommend
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamDined here while staying at the hotel as dinner, bed an breakfast offer. Staff were very friendly, didn’t have to wait long for our food and it was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel and restaurant. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamHad a lovely afternoon tea yesterday . Staff and everything was great
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamLovely restaurant, attentive staff and delicious food. We had the Cod.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamLovely food but very poor service! Was staying here for a night to celebrate mine & my partners anniversary. We paid a lot of money for one of the luxury suites and decided we preferred the menu and atmosphere at the Bar than the restaurant, so decided to go there for food. Took 15 mins for someone to take our drinks order which was fine, as we wasn’t in a rush. Starters came quite quick and were lovely But then the mains took another hour to come.. baring in mind we only ordered 2 pizzas! We asked the staff after 40 mins and was advised they were coming.. then 20 mins later the mains finally arrived. Our bet is they forgot about our order. Was a little disappointing having a starter and then waiting another hour for our mains. The staff were pretty unhelpful, but the staff behind the bar were nothing but apologetic.. it’s just a shame this wasn’t the same for all staff.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamLovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. Good good too will definitely be going back
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamWent on a Tuesday and took advantage of the £10 3 course meal. The food came really quick and was very tasty. We were too full to eat our dessert so they kindly boxed it up for us and we took it home to eat later. Staff were very friendly and helpful and really for what you pay you can't complain. Only little thing to be aware of are the supplemented items that have an asterix * against them. Also it is £1 extra to have either cream, custard or ice-cream with your dessert. Other than that the pub itself is decorated really quirky and it is lovely place to go.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamReally lovely date night with my husband, glorious food and lovely service. Attentive but not intrusive, good value - will definitely return
Pesto Italiano – DurhamVery attentive staff, I had mackerel pate to start & slow cooked neck of lamb for mains both dishes were delicious & beautifully presented, couldn’t fault a thing & would recommend.
