We booked 2nd sep 2023 for a meal in the Resturant with visiting family There was a piece of plastic in our starter, & a pizza came out 12 mins after everyone else’s main meals The manager in charge handled both matter to our satisfaction but I can say it did still taint our night. Food was lovely service wasn’t as expected

Booked Sunday lunch menu for 5 people, very reasonable price if £15.95 for 2 courses. Waiter service excellent. Carvery meat and vegetables excellent. We did like the opportunity to serve ourselves rather than be served, that way we could have as much or it as little as we wanted. Drinks a little pricey - £8 for a glass of white or red house wine.

Amazing food in a really nice setting. Service was also top notch. A hidden gem in Durham. Would definitely recommend.

Visiting Durham and wanted to eat somewhere other than our hotel. Came across Gussto and weren't disappointed. Food was really tasty, hot and filling. The service was professional and attentive. Wine selection was very good. Would recommend and would eat there again on our next visit.

Had an evening meal last week (staying at the hotel). Usual high standard of service and food (stayed here several times). Pan fried sea bass was excellent as was the duck. Also had our breakfast here, very tasty and set us up for the day.

Went for lunch yesterday before going to spend the afternoon in the spa. It was a lovely comfortable clean place. Staff where very friendly. Food was hot tasty and very filling. We had 2 course, If I had to complain my only thing was the mushroom soup was too spicy for my liking but over than that 10/10

Very enjoyable visit for lunch. The food was tasty, fresh and generous (we couldn’t make it to pudding), staff were helpful and friendly. Genuinely dog friendly. Exceptional value for money. Will definitely go back, thank you!

Adults meals were good value for money as they were 3 courses for £10, children’s meals not worth the money unfortunately and were very disappointing. 3 courses for £6.95 for the children making it £3.05 difference between a child and adults. I would have rather got the kids two adult meals than have what we were given. Ordered kids pizzas and they served half a ciabatta bun with tomato and the worlds smallest sprinkle of cheese. My little one wouldn’t even touch it. Questioned it twice and apparently they didn’t have time to prep pizza bases. Would have rather they just told us this when ordering so we could have chosen an alternative meal. Adult meals were nice just a shame about children’s.

Excellent food, service and good value for money

I absolutely love this place! the food is simple but outstanding! the prices are unbeatable and the service is always great. A lovely, spacious, country style pub, where dogs are allowed in one area and they also have great facilities to eat outdoors if you choose. Mon-Wed, 3 courses for £10 is unbelievable!

We thought the food overall was great and the service excellent. We had afternoon tea which we really enjoyed. It was a real treat and Shannon looked after us very well. After a long early evening walk we then had our evening meal which was excellent. We had the package menu, there was loads of choice the food was delicious - all 3 courses. . The level of service from Cathy and Louise was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. Breakfast was good. The food was okay but Cathy and Shannon once again looked after us and they were both great. We really enjoyed it. Overall we were very impressed by the staff, Cathy, Louise and Shannon looked after us very well, the food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable stay. Thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed at Derwent Manor for our anniversary on a D B&B basis. Everything about our stay was lovely, upon arrival the staff had placed a card, wine and chocolates in our room. Our evening meal in Prego restaurant was excellent, with very attentive, polite service. The drinks were reasonably priced. This was our second visit to the restaurant and we will definately be back.

Ate at Preggo on three consecutive nights. We were able to make positive choices each time. The food was tasty. We can particularly recommend the mackerel pâté, the Cajun monk fish starters, and the pan roast chicken main. Both wine and food are reasonably priced. Two minor criticisms: mackerel pâté portion size varied over two nights (we chose different things on different nights; and the restaurant is unfamiliar with ‘affogato’. Other than that we’d recommend.
